I don't know. You know the thought went through his mind a thousand times during the lengthy stalemate and his mentality revolved around two things:

#1 DO NOT GET A BAD INJURY!
    #2 Play well

This is the ONE thing that he knew could derail his future with the Cowboys................but maybe he will end up going to a team who has an owner who knows his place?

Maybe the Steelers to replace Ben after he wins #7?

It has my approval. It’s relevant since we’re discussing an upcoming opponent.

    Hey BURGH43STEL.

Yes, I was thinking about his contractual situation when I saw that he was injured. I feel bad for him from a physical health/injury standpoint. However, no pity from a financial standpoint. I just looked up, and saw on First Take, he was offered a 4-Year contract with $110-125 Million guaranteed. Him and his agent wanted a 5th year guaranteed for $45 Million extension. They turned it down. Idiotic. Greedy.

He had his chance to lock up a very good, reasonable deal (IMO) and blew it. Maybe he gets a second chance. We know how this works. If he is "damaged goods" his career is probably over. If so, he better figure out how to make that $30 Million Franchise Tag salary work. Still, that is way more than enough money to retire on with a good Financial Planner.

As we know, this is what can potentially can happen when you get "greedy". Athletes are always one play away from suffering a career-ending injury. Again greedy IMO.

Well, I hope he recovers from the injury and has a good quality of life first and if football is in the cards then great. Again, he had the dollars in hand and blew it. Maybe he gets a second chance maybe not. I blame his agent more than him.

Refreshing perspective STEELWINDS. Greed ruins many careers, looking at you Dupree.

    Hey Roonatic.

As I mentioned in the original post, from what I just saw on First Take today, it seems that Dak was the recipient of some bad advice from his agent. The point is that the blame of the greed in this situation, as the case with some other professional athletes, falls mostly on the shoulders of the agents.

Yes, I hope Dupree does take notice. Not just Dupree but for all those who sport the Black and Gold as well: Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

You said it..."revolved"...past tense. Those thoughts were definitely preeminent in his mind before the season started. Even decisions on off season workouts and training camp/pre-season participation are based on that tag. But once the season starts, these guys (vast majority) don't play the game not to get hurt. There is very little "thinking" between the whistles. It's reactionary. No time for internal dialogue to guide actions.

And immediately after the injury, adrenaline is still a factor. He's on the cart, emotional. Everything he's done for the majority of his life, the culmination of his life's work, might be taken away from him. Will he play again? That question far outweighs leverage, future with a certain team, or money. Those thoughts will sink in soon enough. But on the field? I can't see it.

With as a bad as the NFC east is I think the Cowboys, will win it with Andy Dalton.

Dalton isn't god awful. He made the Bengals contenders for a few seasons, he just had terrible luck in the wildcard games and played bad.

But, Cowboys defense is so bad, 34 points to the Giants?? With no Barkley??

I still believe that the Football Team has an outside shot. Yes, they definitley lost against Los Angeles but I am not doubting that Chase Young for one second. Once he gets revving again, look out.

Cowboys defense is so bad I’m not sure dalton can do shootouts week after week. Wow that division has 4 teams in the bottom 10

Winning the division. The NFC East is horrible. That said, that is now anyone's division.

There is no question that he, and most, play with an involuntary drive. But he had "a lot" of time from the time he went down until he was seen crying on the cart. Regardless of the adrenaline that flows during play, and immediately after, it's still a job. And I'm pretty sure his thoughts of "gotta make this play" were soon replaced with "oh ****......I gambled and lost"

Well, when you put it that way...I still think he was overcome with the emotion of the play/injury.

I didn't see it in real-time, however. "A lot" of time, as you stated, could possibly change my opinion.

Washington won't win it though, bad OL and subpar QB play, the Eagles or Dallas will win it with 7-8 wins IMO.
