On the third play from scrimmage, Ben calls time out and scolds Fitchner for his play calling. You gotta love it!

Maybe Rudolph and Duck weren't that bad after all.:drinks:

He didn't fumble the ball and drop those ones to ebron. Pretty good usage of claypool today. 38 points on the board. I don't know stone, the O is way out playing the D. I'd say butler may be more of a problem.

I'll agree that Butler is questionable for sure. If you think about it, when Futchner didn't have Ben over-riding his play calling, his play calling was atrocious.

And why do we have an OC that has to be scolded by the QB?

The thing that bugs me about Butler is that you have a sack on second down, then only rush 3, when it is 3rd and 17. Blitz again and make Wentz get rid of the ball quicker or give up a 74 yard draw play for a TD.

I think he's leaving it to Butler and Butler is making the same mistakes. It would be odd if MT was calling plays and the D started playing the way they played before Tomlin took a more hands-on approach. If that makes sense lol.

When Ben goes coach Randy and others leave also. Will be a mass exodus of coaches.

Way too predictable on first down -- either a run or pass behind the LOS. Defenses are squatting on that and putting them in 2nd and long all day long, which then turns into 3rd and long.

When Ben is good on 3rd downs, the offense does well. When he's not, they don't. Fitchtner doesn't put them in position to succeed nearly often enough given the talent.

Remember when I said Canada would have some influence on the offense, and you dismissed it, we saw his influence against the Eagles ;).

Was this the first time we ever ran these types of plays? We couldn't run the ball well with a rb. We again have no fb, so yes we found a different way to manufacture a run game. We ran it with D J too. We ran it last year with DJ. I'm sure he has a little input involved in it but you guys were talking about him taking over for fichtner. Randy has run this stuff before as well. Again we have a hurt fb.

    Mixed batch really:

positives - Claypool major focus of Offense, Ray Ray involvement plus how they are being utilized, reverses quick hitters to utilize their speed. I love Ben getting the ball out quickly, going to need to do this again against Myles Garret this week.

negatives - 2nd 22 in 4th quarter and we run a draw play.

I will say I loved at the end of the game how we played to win and threw the ball rather then run three times, run clock and hope defense can hold. The more comfortable Ben becomes we need to put the games on his arm.

I also noticed more motion, different formations and more run plays with the fast receivers. That 4 receiver set on Claypools touchdown was a new one not seen before. As soon as I seen the formation I said what is this, and bingo.

The draw on 2nd and 22 is pretty typical play around the league. The thinking being the defense is expecting pass to make up a big chunk of yards so they are backing up, the delayed draw catches them off guard and can get some yards back. I think it has a 40/60 success rate. Safe play.

I loved how the Philly defenders were more concerned with trying to get a flag thrown than defending the play:lolol:

Yea you can give that touchdown to the new formation design. It had the Philly defenders confused, 3 defenders covering 4 receivers.

That's probably true buy if I were Philly, I would rather have three guys paying attention rather than three guys not paying attention.:lolol:

This really is not Randy's Offense anymore anyway. This is becoming Matt Canada's Offense week by week. As I said in "The Great, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly" thread, Matt Canada has given the Steelers Offensive Creativity it has not had in a long time.

Should this be Randy's final season, so be it.

    Hey Stone:

I will admit, I may have jumped the gun a bit early here at the very beginning of the season on Mr. Fichtner. My point was this: As I have stated all along we have soooooooooo many weapons on Offense, it is freakin’ awesome. WE ARE LOADED FOLKS. I stated earlier that the only things that would hold this Offense back would be Ben’s health and Mr. Fichtner ability to implement all of these super weapons and be creative with them.

Well, up to this point, both Ben and Randy have not had a letdown. Great job.

Agreed. The only difference is that I believe that as long as Ben is there to check out of Futchner's bad play calls, the world will never know just how bad Futchner is.

It's like a brilliant engineer who knows better than to listen to his desk-jockey boss at crucial times.:roflmao:
