One good game...so? He cannot catch out of the backfield like Samuels and Conner can. This WILL be a three-headed attack for the duration of the season. McFarland will see reps ONLY in the event of an injury.

I’ve thought for a while that the best approach may be to let Snell do the heavy lifting on early downs and then bring in Conner in passing situations where he can pick up blitzes and catch passes out of the backfield. He is the best of the group at that imo.

That might be a good plan if Conner could make it through a whole season. Or heck, let's start with a single game for that matter.

And your comment about in the event of an injury. Have you followed Conner since he's been here? The event of an injury is a pretty high chance.

He would thrive as a change of pace/3rd down back. His injury rate wouldn't be through the roof.

Agreed. Not saying Benny is the future, but he is the hot hand at the moment. Moved the chains, is more confident and sees the field better. I also think he is the type of guy who loves to get the ball and gets stronger as the game goes on, the closer we have not had in years. With the talent on that field we do not need the best back in the game, but a competent guy who can get consistent yards when needed. He did that last year with a putrid O, and looks even better this year.

RBBC has been the answer here since Bell left.

I don’t think they know how to use 3 RBs.
There’s no flow to this Offense.

Watch the Saints, Chiefs, Rams Offenses. They flow.

I really don’t care how they get it done as long as they win. That being said did Snell steal your girl or something?

I like Conner a lot but he can't make anything happen unless he has a big hole to get a head of steam going and doesn't have the field vision or cutting ability Snell has. If I'm coach and I'm not I'm going with Snell for the bulk of the running but bringing in Conner and samuels from time to time.

I like how the Giants added Jason Garrett as OC on the off-season. Granted the whole staff was new but it shows that higher quality coordinators are available. But the Steelers? No we'll just stick with the garbage we have, thanks.

Watch the offensive line, these are the people that make run games go.
People ask why do you have preseason games? I think we see why. Rust.

The Steelers did the same thing when they hired Todd Haley.

    I disagree.

Dating back since his debut in 2007, Tomlin has always believed in a feature back. From Willie Parker to Le'Veon Bell, Tomlin is old school in believing a workhorse back is more important than the Running Back committee approach. Granted, I see him incorperate some of that but not wholeheartedly.

For that matter, given how Mike Tomlin first mentioned Benny Snell after the game against Los Angeles in his Rookie Year, something Tomlin almost never does, I had some thoughts about Snell being next in line. Due to Conners inability to stay healthy, Snell's performance has likely cemented him as the feature back.

Conner is likely depth at this point.

The best way to use Connor is to design plays in which he never gets contacted.

Snell looked good! To say he "cannot" catch out of the backfield, at this point, is like saying Dustin Johnson cannot hit his driver because he hit 3-wood off the first tee.

For a moment, it looked to me that JC was trying to run like LB with happy feet near the LOS. Maybe this is his attempt to change running style to stay healthier. Obviously it failed.

Snell impressed me. He was very decisive yet improvisational. And he definitely appears to have improved upon his speed/burst.

Most impressive though was a lot of yards after first contact. He ran tough and took a lot of guys for a ride.

Looking forward to seeing more from Benny.

Snell got everything there was and fell forward. That is all I ask. Simply not putting us in a hole is a huge help.
