It isn't an opinion but a fact that wearing a mask can help to save lives. I am not sure why you wouldn't want to help to protect your family, friends, or others in your community?

If I'm understanding this correctly (I'm probably not), you don't wear a mask out of spite?

If it’s required I’ll comply if it’s not a requirement, I’m probably not wearing one.
Not doing it out of spite.

If you believe it’s that important for everyone to wear a mask maybe instead of shaming others you should go to the people who make the rules and petition them.
My work required masks for a couple months and I wore one and didn’t complain once. A few businesses I frequent require a mask and I wear one no questions asked. I went to two funerals last week and masks were required. I wore mine.
I have zero problem doing what’s required.

Your opinion is not a requirement for me.

I don’t fear that at all.
I just think they’re uncomfortable and a pain in the ass.
If it becomes mandatory to wear one I’ll wear it regardless of how uncomfortable it is.

But you aren't willing to wear one out of concern for others? Because that is what this is about. It's a very simple measure you can take to help curb the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable people.

I’ll do whatever the law say I have to do. Nothing more nothing less.
If people want something done above and beyond what is required or the law they should definitely petition those in charge to possibly change the requirements/laws or they should stay clear of others if they feel they are at risk.
People in general are not required to do what you believe is right even if it seems painfully obvious to you.
Harassing people Over not wearing a mask is eventually going to lead to problems for people doing that to others.

Direct your energy and anger towards the officials who make the rules.

Also isn’t it kind of meaningless for people who don’t have Coronavirus to wear a mask?

It is a huge pain in the ass. I am constantly walking back to the car to get it because I forget it. I find it odd on the golf course seeing some people golfing their whole round with it on. It is mandatory for most places where I live and I'm guessing it will be mandatory for one hell of a long time.

    Which has been thoroughly debunked.
Is it mandatory on golf courses where you are? That would be silly IMO. Golf is the ultimate sport for ease of maintaining distance (and being outdoors in the open air). I guess someone might wear a mask to protect Someone they’re sharing a cart with, but otherwise that seems like overkill.

Yes, but it’s not that simple. People usually take a few days to show symptoms, and they are infectious during much of that time. That’s what happened at a bar in Jacksonville a few weeks ago where 23 people present on one night tested positive, but none of them had symptoms until a few days later. Also, there are now estimates that 40% or more of people who get it never show symptoms, yet they can still infect others. That’s what seems to be happening with a lot of college football players who are practicing together in the offseason. We keep seeing news about several players testing positive but not showing symptoms. However they can bring it home to their families, and some of their family members could be vulnerable.

    Fair point. I stand corrected.

My main point is that it’s unfair to verbally abuse/shame people for not wearing a mask when it’s not even mandatory. I don’t mind at all if someone feels it’s important that everyone wears them and wants to convey that message.
Where it becomes a sticking point for me Is when people Call names and harass others.

It's a scientific fact that wearing a mask helps curb the infection rate of COVID19. How do you think other countries were able to decrease the spread? Why do you think the US continues to struggle with COVID19 infections?

You think you can't catch COVID19 and have a tube put down your throat or suffer damage to your brain, heart, kidneys, or lungs as a result from the infection? I am telling you these things because I've witnessed the worst of what this disease can do to people. People like myself are trying to keep people health and to save lives.

On some level people need to use common sense.

You could have simply said yes, you aren't willing to do it out of concern for others.

And of course everyone who has it knows instantly when they have it. Makes you wonder why they bother with testing for it.

Again your view on what’s best may not be another persons view.
If wearing a mask is that important then the government needs to make it mandatory.
Anyway you do you and I’ll do me.

Why are masks not mandatory? That’s a good question. I’m sure it all comes back to one man.

And no I don’t mean TOMLIN

Masks shouldn't need to be made mandatory for people who care about the welfare of others. How would the government police people who don't want to wear masks? Lock them up?

Wearing masks is a common sense approach to limit the spread of COVID19. Unfortunately to many people in this country don't have a lick of common sense. It's sad that people don't care about the welfare of others. Makes me wonder about the long term future of this country. With every thing that's going on the future doesn't look good.

It shouldn’t need to be debunked. Common sense should have shut that **** down with a quickness, but apparently that’s too much to ask of a large percentage of the population. They’re so busy whining about fake news they fall for asinine crap.

It's not mandatory and it's most of the older people (not me) who are doing it. I don't care either way but I get pissed off when the young punks make fun of it.

Sadly I fear there will be nothing Steeler related to talk about:( Just can't see how there will be a season unless a cure is found (doubtful) or the jag off virus just dies out.
