Texas is now up to 4,739 people currently hospitalized for C-19. That's almost triple the number on June 1 (1,756). One Houston hospital has hit 100% capacity in its ICU. I saw part of a point/counterpoint on TV where some official or former official said something like "we were at 95% of ICU capacity at one point last year, and did fine." Duh. Peaking at 95%, and hitting 100% while on an upward trajectory. Texas Children's Hospital is now taking adult C-19 patients to help ease the burden. I'm sure this is all fabricated by the media, right? (even though the hospitalizations are being reported right out in the open on the state's DHHS site)

The rapid test that was being touted has been reported to have a 48% false negative rate. Haven’t seen any reports of false positives

We might have been better off not doing anything at first so that people would believe the experts when they say what will happen if we don't take reasonable measures (like wearing a mask in public). Instead because we took reasonable measures and kept if from getting really bad at first some people seem to think the whole thing was overblown. Now we get to see what happens when people don't take reasonable measures. Unfortunately I think it is going to be very ugly over the next few months.

Is this the nose swab test? The disclaimer on my results said the test was the least reliable currently.

To be honest I quit following all this **** awhile ago so I am not fully updated on things. Take aides for example, Magic Johnson and a ton of other people are HIV positive but they do not get aides and live normal lives. Is it the same for covid?? I'm assuming here but just because you test positive doesn't mean your going to get sick. That being said if just a few players test positive are they going to shut down the sport??????

MLB starts July 23-24, now I'm guessing a few players will test positive so will they shut down the games????? If this is true then no way, shape of form will their be an NFL season. And that will piss me off big time. Maybe I got it wrong and they will play through even with some test positives. If I'm not wrong then unless they find a cure (not hopeful) we will wear mask the rest of our lives and their will be no more sports:(

@steel machine@steel machine I think one of the major issues and one Elvis keeps pointing out is that you can be positive and asymptomatic and not know it and could potentially spread it to others who then may be more susceptible to the debilitating effects or may be asymptomatic as well and transmit it to others. I think this is what the players fear most. They pick it up at the facilities and bring it home and pass it on to their family.

My fear steel machine is that one or two will test positive & a few weeks later the majority of the team will be quarantined.

Bingo. I don’t really worry about the risk to myself of getting it. I’m in my early 50’s and have no significant underlying conditions. I worry about passing it to someone else who won’t fare as well, whether I know that person or not.

Out in the rural area where I live no one but my wife and I are wearing a mask. I’m surrounded by idiots. We went to an outdoor dining area and the waitress walked up wearing a mask. Over her chin. Not covering her mouth or nose. I looked around. All the staff were doing the same. We won’t be back out for a while. The problem isn’t the virus. The problem is stupid people.

And these stupid people are going to cause the economy to have to be shut down again. And much longer the second time.

    Grumble grumble

I ordered some pizza by the slice today for lunch. The whole Italian crew had their face mask on but left their noses out.

Here in Connecticut we are way down in cases and hospitalizations. Testing is coming back with very low positive cases. About 120 people are in hospitals vs. over 2,000 in April. My wife and I went out in a large town center that has about 100 shops and restaurants this afternoon. About 60-70% of people were wearing masks, including lots of young people outside walking around town. This is why we’re doing very well here. Not everyone is showing concern for other peoples’ health, but the percentage of responsible people is high enough that the knuckleheads aren’t dragging us back to the darker days. At least not yet.

Over 44,000 new cases yesterday, which was an all time high. Even Texas and Arizona are beginning to waive the white flag.

You can call this year over, we will all be heading back indoors until 2021 very soon.

New daily record for us as well. Of course half the state is still whining about ma freedoms, I could get bronchitis from a mask, I could get co2 poisoning.

Thank you! Now it makes sense to me. Really depressing. I just can't see how we are going to see Steeler football for a long time.

And while I do see the point of the mask, I also see why people hate wearing them. The longest I have to wear one is about an hour. How the hell people can wear them for an 8 hour work shift is beyond me.

In beautiful New Jersey (hey, we are the garden state) I think you can dine in starting July 2nd. There is talk of schools going back in Sept. but all must wear mask which is a joke. My wife retired but has gone back to teach on and off. She was asked to go back this Sept. for another girls maternity leave. It's frigging first grade, can you imagine keeping mask on 25 first graders? Herding cats comes to mind. Thankfully money is not an issue for us so she has turned down the offer.

My wife has worked in medical research for over 20 years, has asthma, and has frequently had to wear masks for 10-12 hours at a time. She says it’s annoying, but you get used to it. Before C19, I had never worn a mask other than a few times when working with harsh cleaning chemicals or herbicides. Now if I’m wearing a good mask that fits I don’t even notice and sometimes forget that I have it on when I’ve been back in my car for a few minutes.

It does suck. I follow my companies directives which is what the CDC recommends. We wear masks the minute we step foot through the door, clean and sanitize my station first thing, pause every 2 hrs to clean and sanitize the station and observe social distancing. In my case the social distancing is almost to the point of being antisocial almost 12 feet from nearest coworker all day. Yet I get harassed by leadership because I let my mask hang loose when at my station and put it back on when I move away from it. In the meantime there are coworkers who don't wear their masks correctly all around me from managers to coordinators, to supervisors and team leads to plain employees. It just pisses me off to no end.

Then I have moments like the other day where I left my station to go to the bathroom and comeback to find a random employee in my station using my tape machine and he goes sorry just needed some tape and then walks away and goes back to the second floor. So now I have to wipe down my station again twenty minutes after doing it because I can't trust where this a-hole has been or if he washes his hands, he already had his mask hanging under his nose instead of over it. Just pisses me off and I take precautions seriously because I don't want the family to get sick.

I’m not sure how it’s used/applied. It’s the Abbott test that is supposed to give positive in 5 minutes and a negative in 15. The company keeps changing instructions on how to use it.

The more it goes, I'm think there will be games, but no fans.

I'm just grateful I live in rural PA, very little cases around here, thus far.

But, it won't take much to get it taken off again.

As bad as it and it will kill people, it takes have a 98% or so survival rate.

Actually the survival rate is likely better than 99%. If it were 98% we may be approaching a half million deaths in the US by now.

    id have to respectfully disagree.
I’ve seen this stance by a handful of my Facebook friends.
If they make wearing a mask a requirement I’ll be happy to wear one, but if it’s not mandatory I’m not interested. Shaming people and calling them names doesn’t help them embrace your opinion it mostly just makes them dig their heels in even deeper.
If I’m out and someone try’s bully tactics on me cause I’m not wearing a mask I’ll beat their ass.
