I come here to discuss the Steelers. You are the one making it personal right now. This is a message board. All I can do is ask nicely, but you are choosing instead to misrepresent what I wrote while I am attempting to correctly reflect what you write. If I fail to do that, by all means, tell me.

The entire point of this is to exchange ideas. I support mine with evidence and I speak up when I see something that doesn't make sense. I am sorry if that troubles you.
Then stop telling EVERYONE they are wrong and just discuss.....this is a message board we talk about opinions. Everyone has them and ones is not right or wrong more than the others!!!!!!

Scribe has a style all his own:smiley1: If it got up to 80 degrees yesterday and someone said "it was hot yesterday" Scribe would point out how stupid they were because at 12:01 AM it was rather chilly:cool: That would teach us a thing or two!

    Come again?!

I was one of the few people that actually liked the pick back in 2018. I was under the impression he would improve greatly to build off on what I considered a solid rookie season. In some ways, he sure did. In other ways however, there is much to work on.

Biggest issue is lack of turnovers. What are Safeties often measured by is their ability to generate turnovers and/or wreak havoc. Terrell has done neither up to this point. In addition, there is one major difference between Terrell and Bud.

Bud did not have a fellow First Round EDGE from his draft class on the same team. Terrell does.

sorry sarcasm again...lol. My point is why isn’t TE being given the same amount of time Dupree was afforded? TE has been a better player than Dupree when comparing their first 2 years. So by those standards TE has 2 more years to improve...
I teach high school. They aren't that little and they wouldn't be offended if I asked them to be honest, which is all I asked of you.

It isn't true that I don't consider opinions different from my own. I went back and did research on Fackrell again. I presented some of that research here, demonstrating why it does not make sense to assume that he could put up similar numbers to Dupree if the Steelers had brought him in as a replacement. Some people want to look at those 10.5 sacks in 2018 and ignore everything else, but that isn't accurate. Dupree was a far more complete player in 2019 than Fackrell was in 2018. If you want to be fair and take the career years away from both, Dupree was still significantly better.

I think he was confusing your point of view and mine. I always thought Edmunds was a reach. When people kept pressing for who I wanted instead, I pointed to Leonard as an example of a better player they could have had, one who was a perfect fit for the team's needs at the time.

As you already mentioned, you liked Edmunds. In fact, we went back and forth on this many times before you started to see that it is possible Edmunds won't work out after all. Despite our disagreements along the way, your current take is very reasonable and the part about having Fitzpatrick as a teammate in the same draft class is an excellent one I hadn't thought of until you brought it up a while ago.

Why are you still talking about me instead of getting back to talking about the Steelers? I certainly don't know everything. I do know that based on the entire resume, Dupree is valued far more highly than Fackrell for very good reasosn.

Fair point, though it would have been better if you just made the point without the personal stuff.

Trading up is based on assuming they can find a partner. With no first rounder this year, it could also mean dipping into the following year's draft as they had to do in the Bush trade. Haven't you been arguing against trading away the future for the present?

You took a shot at teachers in the middle of an argument with a teacher. I made an inference, something English teachers have to do all the time. It's not like we can go and ask William Shakespeare what he meant when we want to discuss Hamlet with our students. If you really want to claim that it wasn't meant as a dig at me, by all means, make that claim.

Dupree is definitely a little overpaid for 2020. That's the way the market goes. I think it is fair to say he would have gotten similar money but for more than one season if the Steelers allowed him to reach free agency. That's why I don't want to see them give him a long-term deal. I think the one-year commitment is more than enough, especially with big paydays for Watt and Fitzpatrick on the horizon.

At least we know he’s done it and everything is in place for him to do it again. I don’t see replacing him with someone who is cheaper and less likely to perform at that level, thus weakening the position as a good strategy.

After you count the difference in what Bud got paid and what his replacement got paid, how much of a savings would it be? Would he be enough to get an impact player like Bud was last season? You don’t get rid of difference makers, you keep them whenever possible.

Bud 15.8 Frackell 4.5 is 11.3 difference what do you think? Do you think we could get an impact player for 11.5, also take into account what the whole story is. You like the 41 mil cap hit we take next year on Ben? Once Cumo tells my boos to send me home I will have lots of time to pull up the old threads of everyone bashing Bud and his play. That was a few years ago cause like I said Bud had a great year.......1 out of 5 ain't bad!!!

Also this isn't just about Frackell it is about the many names that has been brought up as possible replacements. Is Frackell the top of my list no but I would take him at 4.5 over Bud at 15.8 for many reasons. Pushing money down the road is one, using that savings to sign our key guys, also getting free agents to beef up the spots of weakness like DT/NT and SS. All this could have been done by getting a cheaper option than Bud. Like I have said before we have no way of knowing if frackell or anyone else could put up similar or the same numbers as Bud just like we don't know if Bud can do it again. The one thing we know is saving that kind of money could strengthen the rest of the team and you may not need the same numbers from that spot cause you are getting better production in more than one spot.

Difference makers you keep yes but when you are poor and have no cap space then what? I get it rob peter to pay paul, let's book mark this thread next year when we are complaining about Ben's 41 mil cap hit and MP's 14 mil hit. You can't keep everyone and it is a great big puzzle to try and make everything fit.

It may be hard to pick up in but it’s clearly “illuminating “ from my responses that I’m stressed out and sensitive right now. I have to stop letting the exchange’s on this message board affect my daily routine . Maybe I’ll go read a book or watch TV ,that’s more my speed I was told ,by someone of superior knowledge.
