Fitz wanted to be traded because he didn't agree with the way the Phins coaches used him.

Teams like Miami have no problem getting rid of a lot of players when season is a failure.

It’s going to be crucial for us to get off to a fast start on both O and D. A fast start on O will help to make them more one dimensional and a lead will allow us to sub in more frequently along the DL. Butler is already talking about having to lean on Cam,Hargrave and Alualu significantly. A close game and those guys are gonna wear down and our D will become a sieve. Factor in Watt probably not being close to 100% and the inexperience at OLB and there is potential for disaster. 2 weeks to prepare they need to come out hot and take away any thoughts Miami might have of pulling the upset. A nail biter in the 4th is bad news for us.....

I guess it is all on how you want to look at it. If you are happy just making the playoffs then you are right. However if you expect(like I do) a team full of the talent they have had to see more than one AFCCG since our last SB. That is average or ordinary IMO.

If someone is happy with just making the playoffs they should be disappointed, since it didn't happen last year and this year...well...

    Would that make us mediocre?

No, I’m not happy just making the playoffs, and I haven’t seen anyone else on this board say that they are either. However the fact is that the Steelers have been one of the better teams in the league over the last several years. It’s a fact, not an opinion. I’m not satisfied, but it’s a hell of a lot better being a fan of a team that’s always relevant in December, and often into January, than it would be to be a fan of a team that’s truly mediocre. I know from experience. My alma mater has not sniffed bowl eligibility in the better part of a decade, and it really sucks.

I feel the frustration with not being able to take the step from good to great, and it’s certainly a valid argument that leadership changes could help. However major leadership changes could also set the franchise back and result in true mediocrity.

Wins. Don't get enough and you hit the road. You won't see too many coaches winning games get fired unless they work for the Chargers.

Are you talking about the Dolphins team that is playing for draft picks next year? I just don't see the Amish rifle lighting up our improved secondary. Only way they win is if we beat ourselves with turnovers. Many turnovers.

I agree we have been a very good team in regular season no questioning that. 13-3, 11-5, 10-6 & 11-5 any fan would be happy with. But when you throw in what we have done in the playoffs IMO we are mediocre. As far as new leadership setting us back maybe but maybe not, what I do know is we haven't been in a SB since 2010 and we haven't won one since 2008. We have had some of the best talent on the offensive side of the ball and we have a HC who is a defensive minded guy. How far is new leadership gonna set us back, no playoffs......we are already there. JMO

It might be a good thing I have to work on Monday night, and I won't be home to watch the game, because if the Steelers lost I would need a new tv :hehehe:.

My intuition and past historical reference tells me that the Fins have put in as much or more game prep in one week as MT has in 2 weeks so don't take it out on the TV's. They are just showing what reality is without prejudice.

Steelers suck... but they don't suck as bad as Dolphins.

It wouldn't surprise me if Dolphins won tomorrow.

Still not sold on defense.... and I believe Hargrave could be better than Tuitt at DE! It's the coddling on offense that has me worried. Let Rudolph throw the DAMN BALL.

The Dolphins roster is constructed to do just what it's doing. Lose. They're tanking without tanking by having a roster of mostly young guys. They're basically a really good college team. They're trying to stock high draft picks.

Losing this game should be next to impossible for any competent head coach. I can see why you're nervous.

SE let me also add before I open a can a worms with my last post. When you quoted me on my post:

So what that has nothing to do with their current run of mediocrity.

I did say current and with missing last years non playoff season and our current losing season aren't we Mediocre right now?

Only since the Tomlin era began did they start making me nervous. I'm relishing the day I don't dread playing teams with terrible records.

One thing about this year.... all 4 losses were to teams who have winning records. 3 of the 4 losses were to division leaders.

Yep. '94, '97, '01 and '04. But at least Cowher got to the AFC Championship game multiple times and won playoff games in the process. Steelers won't sniff another one until there's some coaching changes.

The players could take it in their own hands. Maybe Minkah is the leader that we need.

I hope. Minkah Fitzpatrick is the real deal.... this could end up being the best pickup we've had since James Farrior in the early 00's. What scares me is injury. Our depth is not that great at Safety.
