I like them both. But, it's a contract business. When he fails on contract, then we can talk about getting rid of him. Right now, he is okay.
This will be a bad year. One bad year is not enough to get rid of him. He made playoffs in 8 of his 12 seasons. That's good. Two SB appearances, that's good.
Last year missed the PO but had a winning season. It's all good so far, with the exception of this year, but they are on top of things. No need to panic yet. It's all good.

It isn't just one bad year. The 2018 season was a bad one, too. Tomlin has to take a significant amount of blame for the way that team often showed up unprepared and found ridiculous ways to lose. All the talk about an improved locker room this year also means that that the locker room had been a problem. Tomlin is part of the problem there, too. He helped create that by his failure to address Brown's idiocy, allowing things to fester and get worse.

Despite all of that if Boswell doesn't have the yips, they win 11-12 games.

....and if Boswell didn’t almost single handedlly win us a bunch of games the year before we would of been a 8 -9 win team the year before. That’s why you are what your record says you are....

Yeah they're 2-4 with their 2nd and 3rd string QBs playing, they also played a tough schedule, losing to 4 winning teams with a combined 3 losses .

Remember, after week 2, we were the only team to score on the Pats and allowed 10 less point against them than anyone in the league. If that isn't encouraging, I don't know what is!

Lets be realistic here folks, if Sean Davis was not injured, Minkah Fitzpatrick would not be one this roster. Glad he is but that is reality. The 1st they gave up for him I have zero issue with because lets be real the drafting of quality secondary went out the window with Polamalu. Hilton is showing signs as well as Sutton, but, they are not starters. The decline of this defense started years ago and this lies at the feet of Colbert and Tomlin. Now it seems this curve is turning upward, all be it they sit at 2-4 with a stacked defense of 1st round picks: Heyward, Alualu, Bush, Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Haden, Watt, Dud oh I mean Dupree and Toast, ummm I mean Burns. And still struggle in the 4th quarter.

Count the years of wasting Ben with a declining defense. The blame lies at the feet of Colbert and Tomlin.

I fully expect both to be here. I'm not a total basher of Colbert mind you, he has drafted some nice talent. But depth is in question now.

10 years gone with an aging QB now with a major injury. And if Tomlin is the master motivator as quoted how do you explain the meltdowns against supposed lower tier teams? And when he is pumping his chest when they are winning but when the chips are down this is what we see  I feel this was put on this board just for Tomlin's facial expression when the heat gets hottest, Ol Bug Eyes.

It will go on and on and I will still cheer for a Steelers win. ALL the time. But I feel it's time for a change. And at 2-4 how do you give kudos?
    But but, Ben is injured...

Tomlin's winning season and never had a losing one. Also look at the record against sub .500 teams, he has more losses than any 3 winning coaches combined over the same time period. The reason is he fails at preparation, he does not scheme his game plan per opponent, instead they use a generic formula based on team tendency. That is why we can't beat NE even with more talent, because he doesn't coach, he just cheerleads.

I give him credit when he succeeds but those instances are rare, we watched the most prolific offense ever lose games because there was no plan "B" when a team was prepared. This happened a lot with bad teams as they had to game plan for the Steelers. Most of the game plan has been to just let the stars make plays hoping they beat their man. Look at the offense this season, they are running the same WR routes they did with AB, no adjustment.

We can't blame the QBs all the time, Ben didn't look good but it seemed every catch was contested, receivers had defenders draped on them like they were running the routes. Why? Because Tomlin just had his guys just do what they do and remember the ratbirds game, we beat the Bengals using a wildcat heavy offense so pinned deep they bring out the same thing in the same down as the previous game. Shocker that it was covered so well and lets face it, the ravens aren't good, Jackson only looked good against a putrid Dolphins team and not much better Cardinal team.

Even the sports pundits are beginning to question Tomlin's resume. I've heard three of them question whether Tomlin has underachieved given their roster. These same people have always made excuses for him but now he is being questioned as to how good of a coach he actually is. I'd love to see how it would look if he went to the Redskins, my guess is he'll pull an AB and if let go from the Steelers he'll only go to a team with a franchise QB in place.

If your definition of good is 2-4 - sure, can't argue with that.

All I have to say is thank god we have good back up QB's right now.

Also I've never thought we had an issue with personnel. Sure maybe a player here or there - but what team doesn't have that? The defense has definitely improved over last year. What was the issue the last few years? Probably lack of talent on defense. The secondary has been disastrous...initially I thought it was definitely a DC problem but as soon as we gave Butler a DB with a pulse they did fine. Our safety play has been horrific - add that to a defense with no play makers = disaster. All this gets to my point - it's the coaches job to get the most out of the players he has...this is something Tomlin fails at miserably. Our record against bad teams is just 1 example of the many pieces of evidence that proves Tomlin guilty of sucking. He will never win consistently - I don't care what players you give him. 8-8 , 9-7 - and a pile of playoff losses is not consistent success. Especially with elite talent at your disposal.

I am with you 100%. As a teacher, and a coach with 30+ years of experience for just about every sport from Pee-Wee to the High School arena, it is up to the coach/teacher to extract and maximize the player's/student's talents. A good coach knows how to identify a player's strengths and weaknesses and how to improve and compensate upon each. I have come to the determination that Tomlin's strength is his ability to motivate and to quell adversity when it arises. Unfortunately, that is about it. However, if he surrounds himself with strong personnel (DC and OC) who are tacticians this can help to overcome his shortcomings. It is no different than education. A smart Principal realizes that to be successful he/she must surround himself/herself with strong Assistant Principals (as well as other staff members) to be most effective. Given the talent that has come through during the Tomlin era it is unacceptable that we do not have several more rings. This is an administrative issue that points to a coaching staff that has more weaknesses than strengths in my opinion.

I'm not saying this is a reason to keep him or not keep him however I think it's easy to say that he is better than the majority of the coaches that are coaching NFL teams right now.

Until AB, Bell or some other ex-Steeler win some SBs the "should have won more titles with his talented players" does not hold water.
