I for one am glad. He is a big strong kid who has the height to see over the D-line. Should the unthinkable happen and Ben goes down it will probably be a bad season but I will enjoy watching Rudolph develop. He is our future.

He earned it. He was heads and tails better than Dobbs IMO.

I think this was the obvious choice. Hopefully Ben stays healthy for the season but young Masons development has been very encouraging. Hopefully he continues to progress and can take over the reins when Ben eventually retires. I think the team has a nice situation there.

I like Dobbs but I agree with the decision. Rudolph looks good.

For the first time since the days of Batch and Leftwich I feel like we can win multiple games if our backup QB is pressed into action for a few weeks.

Congrats to Mason Rudolph! Well earned good sir!!

Only one hill remaining to climb for him. I doubt he will let up his continued dream to start. That being said, let us hope that the "hill" he wants to overcome can remain healthy for us until that "hill" is ready to be conquered.

He has always said he wants to be the starter, and he has said that day #1. Some see that as arrogance or cocky, but pretty good attitude to have. He will now be one play away from being the starter.

I think Rudolph made a good jump from year 1 to year 2. His footwork in the pocket along with mobility were very improved.

But, we shall see once he is in a situation where the game counts.

After all, Steelers almost beat the elite Ravens Ray Ray team with Dennis Dixon one year.

With a better backup QB whose skills weren't so limited they would have.

Change is tough for some. Sometime in the near future, Mason Rudolph will win many games for the black and gold. Hats off to Tomlin and Colbert for looking forward. With that said.... go grab #7 Roethlisberger! Godspeed You Good Emperor....

I think Mason can be a quality NFL starter. Barring injury to Ben & Ben not signing another year of contract he will not get a second contract in Pittsburgh if he wants to be a starter. Ben could get in the way of resigning Mason.

Roethlisberger's gonna have a hard time achieving that with your predicted 7-9 record. No?

Agree, Patriots are stacked at WR...Edelman, Thomas and Gordon. Pat's are the new killer B's. Hype that is backed up with results. Steelers achieving #7 is not gonna
happen unless Steelers change their ways. I stand by 7-9.

That would have been a great receiving core 5 YEARS AGO!

Gordon is out of shape, and Thomas will never recover from his ACL surgery last year

Steelers must defeat Patriots at Gillette. Until then, everything is for naught.
