This is along the same lines of what I was thinking when deciding between Dangerfield and Skipper. If I had chosen Skipper then that would have been only 3 safeties. But like Elvis said, I was thinking of Hilton as a pseudo S back up. Plus you'd have Dangerfield/Allen on the PS in case of injury.

i think the more likely scenario is that Fred Johnson goes to the PS and Skipper is added. Then you still have Skipper and 4 safeties and ST's isn't impacted as much with losing Dangerfield.

When I was making this roster and I was at 50 or 51 players I was struggling, I wanted Gilbert , Skipper, Spencer Allen, Dangerfield, Fred Johnson.......

I know the real roster will be different but I hope I’m close....... it wasn’t easy

I’ve come to respect your thoughts on the OL over the years but honestly I just don’t think Hawkins has played well enough for a roster spot.... maybe I’m missing something ..... we’ll see soon enough

I seriously considered only three safeties because of Hilton’s versatility

Steelers is #20 on the waiver wire list. So if anyone available is not picked-up by the first 19 teams, we get a shot...

What’s the difference between being waived and being released or cut?? Did Harrison have to clear waivers before the patsies claimed him or did he go to them free and clear.... I’ve never had a real clear knowledge on this......

I believe if you have 4 years or less experience you’re waived and have to clear waivers.
If more than 4 years you’re released and you’re a free agent.

Listening to Lolley the other week and he says the team feels Vince is the BEST special teamer in the team and the coaches feel that way to,So if it comes down to special teams it’s probably more beneficial to Vince.

    here's an article

    https://www.nbcsports.com/washingto...ts-difference-between-waived-cut-and-released

    but to simplify...

Waived - non-vested player (under 4 years service). Upon termination, he will have to go thru the waiver process

Released - vested player can sign with anyone upon termination from training camp to trade deadline. Must go thru waiver process from trade deadline to end of season

Cut - just a term used for terminating a contract. Player will go thru waiver process according to whether they are vested or not and time of year.

I think Holton makes the team over Eli Rogers and him and Switzer fill out the receiving core.

IMHO, comparing Vince to Red is an insult to Vince. Vince is a force defensively against the run & he did have a pick6 last year. I watched Red on every snap last game ...absolutely worthless ...we got plenty of guys capable of playing special teams ...Red should be on the practice squad at best because he's guaranteed to clear waivers ...lol

We should have given Diontae Spencer some deep ball opportunities ...he may have been the fastest guy on the team..
