I agree with so much of what you're saying. You can go back and search my post...... Everyone was pimping and Dupree out of Kentucky and I felt like a lone wolf saying he wasn't a 1st rd talent. Pre- draft I said and after the Draft I stuck to my guns and said we over drafted him.

He has Never shown he was worthy of a 1st rd selection. His numbers didn't warrant that grade considering the level of competition he was playing. He has the size and athletic ability but something's missing. Teaching ???

It is coaching at this point when you look at where he is. I personally think a great OLB Coach could have him better. I bet Greene would have had a greater impact on his skill set. But he is where he is and he Must accept responsibility for that. Yes, Butler scheming him in coverage and other things affects his numbers also.

Fact is I believe his career has proven me right.... A good OLB but not great and one who has gotten better each year.

Again, I'd like to see Porter replaced But I don't think Tomlin replaces him because he hasn't sucked at his job like many believe.

What about Limas Sweed.... He had the tools. Mike Adams had the tools. Ziggy Hood? Sometimes players skill set doesn't match their tools and it isn't always coaching faults..... Sometimes it is.....

Yeah pretty much his grade was a raw-type pass rusher that hasn't met his potential. Unfortunately, while he's made progress we're still waiting for that potential 4 years in.

So there will be an interesting decision to be made in the offseason.

Dupree basically isn't extraordinary and nor is a liability IMO. They might keep him in his fifth year based upon a need.

As for your scouting abilities, Mike Mayock's position is open : )

    Hahaha ....... No!!!

Even a blind squire finds a nut every once in a while!!

They picked up his 5th year option in may..... He's no where worth 9 million so I'm curious what will happen come March !!

I sometimes wonder if maybe the Steelers should just go with Mel Kiper's recommendations. I wonder if any team actually does that secretly lol.

I'm leaning toward Dupree has hit his ceiling.

Did you forget how Porter was praising Jarvis Jones before the season started, and how he was going to have multiple sacks and was going to be a beast?

I would of told you then the Porter was full of crap. And Dupree, just forget about him, might as well forget about Porter to.

I would of taken Maylock recommendations. He is going to help the Raiders draft. Wish we had him.

What has Jarvis done since he left here??? Maybe their OLB coach is worse than ours....

Just because it didn't happen on black Monday doesn't mean there won't be changes later on.

I disagree that Butler needs to go. The defense improved this year. He may be on a hot seat if the improvement isn’t sustained, but I do think the defense made strides this year with largely the same roster as last year.

I hate to see that Tomlin is under contract until 2020. You’re probably right that they will ride him out. 2 more years of Tomlin will turn my hair grey haha unfortunately I don’t see them cutting ties with him, so we’d have to miss the playoffs again for him to even have a chance at seeing the much needed door before the contract is up.

Actually not having a glaring deficit at a position is a positive. It's not like teams routinely ran only onto Dupree's side to exploit a weakness.

Like it or not, the Steelers have already exercised his 5th year option.

The question now is whether or not they make a move for OLB and decide to cut their losses, which most including myself believe will be a good move.

Chickillo is not the answer at OLB, and despite popular public perception neither is Adenyi.

Dupree > Chickillo, but not 9 mill a year greater IMO.

Dupree’s 5th year is only guaranteed for injury. We can trade him, or cut him before a certain point in the new league year (maybe 5th day?) and owe nothing. Someone else suggested trying to do a reasonable contract with Dupree that befits an “OK” edge guy. That may be a good solution. Fix the back end, and maybe Dupree is adequate when he has guys like Watt, Heyward, Tuitt and Hargrave drawing attention.

I really like Chickilo as the 3rd or 4th OLB and special teamer.

Good post. I don't think Dupree thinks himself worthy of a 9 mil per year deal. So shooting for a more realistic number would be a good move IMO.

Because he isn't as bad as many portray him to be, and he's not as excellent as we'd all like to see.

Or how he recently said the opposite of Watt " Doesn't really have any pass rush moves at all "

Honestly, I’d like to see a different OLB coach (Greene maybe?) get a shot at him. His physical potential is elite, and it’s just not clicking.

The Rooney's run this franchise like say a candy company, never change the recipe. Somebody needs to tell them this isn't the 70s anymore.

Yea who ever coach took Jarvis I wouldn't want him either because they would of been just as bad for wanting him. Corbett was wrong for taking him and Porter just talked highly of him but didn't help him one bit nor did the next coach wherever he went to, Arizona I think.

Well, it's Wednesday evening, two days Past Black Monday and still no adjustments to the coaching staff.

As I said don't look for much to happen despite the obvious need.

I still expect one move, probably tomorrow, that they are moving on from Butler. Pittsburgh has not fired a coach in 50 years by the way.

I would still like to see Porter, Tom Bradley, Butler and Danny Smith replaced.

I don't have a problem with Danny Smith. Kicking coverage has been perfectly fine. And that is what kills you the most in games if you are giving up big returns.

We could use a better return game, and a better punter ... but that is a talent issue...
