It's the media's job to be drama queens. It's not Ben's job to be a drama queen. Notice the difference? Why even give the media something talk about or print?

What Ben exhibited was bad leadership. He hasn't been a good leader on the field the past two weeks either with his inconsistent play. Based his play how can he talk about anyone else? Very little hurts a team's chances to win more than turnovers. Washington or other teammates could easily point out this fact if they choose.

Players that have X amount of rings make mistakes. Just because players have those rings doesn't mean they have the right to be critical of other players mistakes. Some people will understand what this kind of issue can create and some won't.

Now just imagine if the WR's or other teammates criticized Ben in the media for inaccurate passes and turnovers. I doubt that criticism would go over very well with Ben.

It sure wouldn't, and I have no doubt the pro-Ben squad would be out in full force crucifying that player. If Ben was playing like Mahomes I could understand his comments, but he's nowhere near that level. He's played like **** just as much as he's played lights out this year.

His pedigree gives him the right.

This isn't the 70's, kids today are more likely to rise up to this type of challenge, public image is everything to them. They grew up in social media, it's their lifeblood. He'll want to go out and prove to everyone he can play. What he's doing right now isn't working, maybe this will help get him on track.

You're all acting like you know him better than Ben. Not everyone responds to the same motivation techniques.

You hate Ben so anything he says will get under your skin.

What a great idea, talk to him privately. They're only 11 games into the season, I bet they haven't tried that!

He's trying to get the kid going and you're all acting like he's just out to embarrass him and tear him down.

Maybe this tact will work. But please, don't let me get in the way of the pitch forks and torches. Carry on.

I’m not sure what world you’re living in blast, but kids nowadays aren’t more likely to rise up to the challenge. What they’re more likely to do is wait for mommy and daddy just swoop in and fix everything for them. It’s easier the whine and used the threat of political correctness to get what you want now days rather than work harder to get it. It’s evident in youth sports.

I live in the world that today’s youth doesn’t want to be shown up in front of the world, Glenn. You’re talking about a professional football player, I think he knows a thing or two about working hard.

So when asked if he’s lost confidence in Washington, Ben said “I haven’t. I wouldn’t have thrown him the ball if I didn’t have confidence in him.”

    That’s pretty harsh Ben!

Look, I would prefer that Ben keep that kind of discussion in house, but this isn’t a fraction of the level of drama that it’s being made out be. Also, Ben owns up to his mistakes all the time. After the Jacksonville game a TV sideline reporter gave him props for leading the comeback, and he said something like “it was my fault that we had to come back.” He’s not a guy that scapegoats his teammates and acts like he’s never at fault. Far from it. Like I said in another thread. Fake drama.

I have no problem with the comments but I do take issue with his leadership on the field. He is a veteran QB who should not be making some of the mistakes he does that cost us games at this stage in his career. He needs to lead by example.

Nobody should ever criticize anybody! Maybe you want the players to all get participation trophies and orange slices as they walk of the field at the end of the game, win or lose.

    More than that:

"I don't know if it's been misconstrued or changed in regards to how you guys put it out there, but he means well. ... He's the only one in this locker room that's probably got a championship under his belt."

That's calling out the media, as well.

He is, but in a very mild fashion. He brought it up as a possibility that the media got it wrong, but he didn't make an accusation. Look at the comments in total, though. He is taking Roethlisberger's side.

Keep it in house Ben. You don't have to flaunt your power/status in the public. Do it at practice
    or in the locker room.

I'm sure he does know a thing or two growing up on a farm. So Ben's criticism is supposed to make him work harder? Or maybe like I said he is just having a hard time learning at the highest level of football. So a guy who is working hard already and is struggling with the mental part of the game benefits from being called out in the media? He's a hard worker who I'm sure is already disappointed in himself and is feeling the pressure and he benefits from his QB blabbing on his radio show?

The transcript of the radio show is behind the P-G’s paywall. Can someone post it, so we can read exactly what Ben said? And in its original context?
