Steelers vs Jags OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD

I do usually share your pessimism. But I do feel like this Steelers defense isn't as garbage as usual. Now the offense well that could be a different story or same however you look at it.

The defense has been fine. Ben on the other hand has been awful

 

Par for the course

 

Every game depends on Ben's play and it scares the heck out of me. He is so inconsistent

 

A spark is needed, whether that's a defensive turnover or some trick plays or God forbid adjusting to a power run game with a full heavy set to make that defense play defense. Right now Ben is feeling phantom footsteps he needs a jolt.

Could be worse. Lots of game left. GO STEELERS!!!

 

We can still win because Jax offense stinks as Bortles can`t hit side of barn. However, Ben playing like he is rusty. I think there is some improvement, but is it enough? Some of this is the matchup issue. They are the worst personnel matchup for us for some reason and that persists even though they are having a bad year. We have to burn them deep IMO. Go wide open on the passing game like we did in playoffs against them.

 

Ben just needs to be a tad better and we can win. The Jags aren’t great

 

We can't sit in shotgun all game and beat them. We are playing right into their strengths. They need to come out in i formation and run the play down their throats like they are doing to us. Run to open the pass. Play action. They are rushing 3-4 and dropping everyone back. There's no where to ****ing throw the ball!!

 

Jags have 2 turnovers, several sustained drives, and only 9 points. Their biggest asset right now is playing with the lead. Steelers need to be able to move the ball both on the ground and in the air and they should be able to change that.

 

Okay, 2nd half! Play like you mean it!

 

Bortles isnt great. They still have some good talent on defense but just has a garbage man at the most important and impactful position.

 

We need to spread them out on defense. Negate their pass rush. When we’ve put more receivers on the field, guys have been getting open.

 

Man, this game is the worst. I had a bad feeling this is how this game was going to go. We need to be patient and run the ball in the second half. If we can tough out a couple first downs with the run it will lose up the coverage.

 

Maybe if he could play like a franchise QB today that would make sense. Ben has had one good half of football against the Jags in 2 1/2 games. The other halves have been the worst of his career. Dobbs couldn't play much worse.

It should be a different second half Steelers get it going!!!! Bens playing like Bortles after all when he came out of the Draft the talking heads compared him to Ben so well see!!!! Go Steelers!!!

 

IMHO, we need to start looking for a QB. Ben's not the Ben he used to be. I see the sun setting on his career. Just being realistic folks.

Worked up?? I’ve been watching football for a long time like you and I would say this is the worst offensive game I have ever seen. Junior Varsity high school games included

 

Tennessee looked like world beaters against New England. Getting killed by the colts. Guess there’s a human being factor in all this....

 

Exactly. Run the damn ball. If we win this game it's going to have to be ugly. Get a couple of first downs on the ground and that coverage will lose up.

 

I couldn't agree more, but he's not getting benched. Anyone remember the back to back 6 TD pass games followed by an awful game/loss to the 1 win Jets a couple years ago. I do. That's Ben, take the good with the bad.

 

Might want to wait to trash talk against AB until you’ve secured the victory
