You may be thinking of the steelers.com board as this place didn’t exist back then. But you’re right, on that board there were a lot of grumblings about him lacking discipline, poor tackling technique, play style will get him injured etc etc.

I agree with those who point out that it’s silly to judge a draft class so soon - success or failure.

I also agree that there’s no comparison between Edmunds and Troy, even as prospects. Measuring freakish physical talent does not account for freakish mental talent. Troy had both, and it was pretty obvious at USC. The jury is out on Edmunds, but I didn’t see it in his college tape. I think he has the potential to be a productive NFL starting safety pretty soon, but it would be an amazingly pleasant surprise to me if he becomes a “special” player.

Same thing with the comparison to Eric Berry. The physical traits are similar, but the college tape for Berry showed that he already had the exceptional mental processing necessary to maximize the use of his physical talent.

The key for me at this early stage is that he's contributing, and if not contributing at pro-bowl level, certainly an improvement on some of the disasters we've had back there of late.

Yes he is making some positive plays. If he does become a good NFL safety, then I think he’s well worth the pick.

One more thing to point out as far as the 2018 draft goes. We returned 20 out of 22 starters and we weren't drafting for this year we are drafting for 2-3 years down the road. Hard for a draft class to prove itself when we have so many starters and backups returning. I was not in favor of the TE pick but there is a plan let's see what happens before we call it the worst ever. 2008 has the honor of being the worst imo....so far.

I was comparing him to Polamalu, and no, he does not have Polamalu's natural gifts. I notice how you avoided that particular comparison.

Regarding the comparison of Edmunds to Berry, the latter was also a dominant player in college. Edmunds was not. That is yet another key part of a comparison you avoided.

The dog pictures are cute. The message they convey is once again unwarranted, but once again you prove yourself to be everything of which you accuse me.

    Ah... I see.

The bulverism and mind games are going full swing? It is approaching the holiday season you know.

As I said, Edmunds is physical freak. Nothing is going to change that. You stated Troy was a freak and Edmunds was not.

    Again..

I was just saying it's one of the worst over the past few years. Recent history is what I said. Some people are really sensitive it has nothing to do with how well the team is doing . I was just saying noting stands out like the last few drafts like a JuJu, martavis, shazier, watt etc. That balled out by halfway through the season. Edmunds might be a solid stater but If u compare him to Troy you might be crazy lol. Hell some people were hating on picks before training camp or at the time of the draft even. the team is doing really good but that wasn't really the topic

Your definition of freak and mine are not the same. Yours includes pretty much any player talented enough to be drafted in the first two or three rounds. Mine includes only guys who are freaks among NFL players. Polamalu qualifies for the latter. Edmunds does not.

By the way, Bulverism is capitalized. If you're going to try that hard to show off your intellect and vocabulary, you might want to make sure you use proper capitalization next time.

Way too early to call it a bust. I think Edmunds is going to be special.

Remember the ravens tried to trade their entire draft to the rams that year to move up to the 2 spot to get matt ryan but the rams wanted their 09 2 pick as well to make the deal, lucky for the rats they didnt make that trade:

Back in 2008, the Baltimore Ravens were desperate. A franchise quarterback was waiting to be selected, and the Ravens were willing to do about anything to make it happen.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, that meant the entire 2008 draft class was on the table.

The Ravens offered their entire draft for the rights to pick Ryan, sources said, going from No. 8 to No. 2. The trade nearly happened, but the Rams asked for more. They also wanted Baltimore's second-round pick from 2009 to clinch the deal.
