After reading this thread, I do agree with most predictions but I'm telling you people this we are beating the Patriots this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry... Steelers don't have the roster on D and the consistency on O to compete with Patriots. Another year wasted.

 

Not sarcasm! Every once in awhile I get strong hunches in my lifetime of following Pittsburgh sports I've had maybe 5. I've only been wrong once when I get them so no guarantee on this one. Examples of when I just knew, the 1979 Pirates went down 3-1 in World Series. Called my family after game 4 and said I got a strong hunch we will win 3 straight and we did. 2005-6 Steelers, at the start of season, family all gather and it hit me hard and I looked at them and said we will win #5 this season and we did. One I missed on was the Penguins winning 3 Cup in a row back in 90-91 and I was sure 92 would be the third.

Weird I understand because I don't believe in all that physic stuff but when I saw the schedule for 2018 it hit me hard. Not that we would have a great season or anything like that but I saw that Patriots game and I said we win that game. I didn't even know if it was home or away at the time.

Feel free all who see this to kick my butt should this be wrong.

 

Totally agree but it is just a very strong hunch I have. As every NFL season has shown sometimes the better teams don't win. I got a strong feeling we actually sack Brady hard. Not like those glancing blows he has had most his career. Someone is blindsiding (legal hit) him and I will jump off the couch with great great joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Steelers will get our hopes up and compete for 2 quarters and then there will be the usual god-awful turnover sometime in the 3rd quarter... and then Josh Gordon and Gronk will have epic production. It's like Groundhog Day. We are in a continuous horrific loop of loss and sorrow until Brady retires.

Only way we win if this game has no meaning. like if pats locked up a bye, we are eliminated from playoffs, etc.

But a meaningful game late season vs a fully healthy pats team? haha

I’m a nerd and love technical research. Therefore I decided to test the OP’s original hypothesis. And, after a whole lot of beer, my opinion on the season hasn’t dramatically changed. There does not seem to be any correlation between the two. If this was a regression analysis, the line would be flat at zero.

I intend to continue researching this.

 

You do realize a record of 9-7-1 is impossible? That's 17 games

 

They need to win the rest of their division games, then get to 10-5-1 that will get them in the playoffs.
