While I think Bell is a really talented and unique RB....I think he bet on himself and lost. I am sure some team will still throw money at him. But not the contract that the Steelers offered. The Steelers and the rest of the NFL have saw that as good as he is. He has been replaced by a different style of back but just as productive. James Conner is making less money PER YEAR (2018 - $754,572) then Bell thinks he is worth per game (2018 per game $855,000)

By not playing..he has shown a good back like Conner can replicate what he does on the field for less than 1/17th the price.

He simply proved what many thought. That a QB like Ben, WR's like AB and JuJu, TE's McDonald, and James...and one of the best OLines in football......Made him look really good.

I think he signs elsewhere for less than the Steelers offered 2 years ago. I am sure they will now back load it so he can save face publicly saying he signed the largest RB contract or something along those lines...but the reality of it will be a 2 or 3 year deal before that team cuts him.

    6 GAMES

    Le'Veon Bell
    134 carries 550 yards 4 TD's (4.1 ypc) 30 receptions for 156 yards 0 TD's
    164 touches for 706 total yards (4.3 per touch) 4 TD's... Team Record 4-2

    James Conner
    103 carries for 453 yards 7 TD's (4.4 ypc) 26 receptions for 257 yards 0 TD's
    129 touches for 710 total yards (5.5 per touch) 7 TD's... Team Record 3-2-1

Yeah I think he'll still get paid. Probably not the 17 mil he wants, but probably as one of the best in the league. He'll probably look in hindsight and see the Steelers offer at least comparable.

As for his career after the Burgh, I do not expect to see him putting up the numbers he has been. I'm sure people will blame the Steelers.

These are good points, and even if/when he signs again, unless he signs long-term with the Steelers in my mind he's already gone. Every run will be with him and his big payday on his mind.

He couldn't care less about winning a championship in Pittsburgh. So the feeling is luke-warm to cold on him. I just don't care anymore if he even suits up for the team again.

I don't think he will fall into the Albert Haynesworth - Redskins signing debacle, but I think he becomes a "very expensive player with marginal results" type signing with whoever he inks a deal in 2019. He'll have success but not on the level he had with the Steelers. He will hamstring their cap imo.

It'll be very interesting to see how this all plays out ultimately for him. I posted way back I saw this potentially hurting him. Of course all there needs to be is one GM that wants to overpay a player, which we all know happens all the time in this league.

    Until then, we wait.

FYI, don't forget, Bobby Fuller gassed himself in his car when still in his prime.

Edit: Can you imagine the media meltdowns if this video were released today - I mean a dozen exploited Go Go Dancers packing two 6 shooters each and waving them in the air. Oh the horror. :roflmao:

Not so sure he gassed himself, at least according to the unsolved mysteries case I watched.

Bell will never get to where he was/ could have with the Steelers. He will set the RB market is reverse for all time. He is the anti-Gurly that the NFL owners were hoping for. He'll get back to the field and most will say "this was what all the fuss was over"?

Agreed hack, unless something miraculous happens like a super bowl win squarely on his shoulders, I think he gets paid less than the steelers offers.

One part of Bell's game that has always made me cringe..... his spin move, while it's gained him a lot of yards..... seems like a knee injury waiting to happen. Never wanted to see him hurt, it's just part of his game that seems a bit risky to me.

But wait - he was parked on a grassy knoll in front of the Ford Theater where Natalie Wood and Marilyn Monroe double features were playing when all of a sudden OJ comes sprinting by ...................yeah I caught all these segments as well. It's a TV show that always has to justify the means to its end. Entertaining but probably just another hyped TV reality show.

I tend to follow the infamous Occam's Razor theory: "Occam's razor (or Ockham's razor) is a principle from philosophy. Suppose there exist two explanations for an occurrence. In this case the one that requires the least speculation is usually better. Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make, the more unlikely an explanation."

The Steelers only offered me 14 mil.
What? How I gonna pay the bills?
Depth chart says Conner's number one.

Wow, bell’s agent actually pulled the race card? Not sure a 70m contract offer represents ‘mistreatment’ of any athlete.... regardless of race.

“My analysis of the economics of the NFL certainly are shaped by the historical experience of black athletes and the mistreatment of black athletes.”
