Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t think he was rusty despite limited preseason action
    https://clutchpoints.com/steelers-n...e-was-rusty-despite-limited-preseason-action/

“I don’t think so. I think the first interception was me getting a little anxious to get the ball to A.B. I was on a little roll-out in the red zone. The guy made a great play. That one maybe just having a feel of game speed stuff compared to practice, potentially,” said Roethlisberger in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"Roethlisberger chalked up his other two picks to lack of practice and weather conditions." BUT I AM NOT RUSTY! :roflmao::thumbs_up:

It's kinda funny how he says he doesn't think the lack of preseason action hurts him but then goes on to say he wasn't used to game speed.....which one is it?

Ben was incredibly rusty. He shouldn't be sugarcoating the obvious. lol

The Browns' defense was good, but Ben also missed many (and I mean MANY) easy plays and forced so many unneeded throws.

The first two interceptions were something he often does, forcing the ball to Brown, but part of that is needing more work with the other receivers. He seemed to be out of sync with Hunter in particular.

It wasn't just rust. It was the first-team offense needing more time together. The one thing that surprised me in a positive way was how well he worked with Conner, who looked very smooth in the passing game.

Ben had two very poor throws that was forcing to AB that resulted in picks. There's no denying that. The third was on Jesse James. Can't fault a QB for placing a perfect pass having it go through the hands of the receiver.

He didn't look sharp going through his progressions, looking off receivers as much as in the past. He made a couple of inaccurate throws. Overall he looked to be reacting instead of dictating the offense.

He had a 60.5 passer rating in that game. His career passer rating over 14 years is usually in the mid to high ninties. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RoetBe00.htm

So yeah I think he was rusty. Contrary to popular opinion it seems, this is not typical.

Ben usually has these games anymore anyway.

I would imagine though this is not the last time Ben will have such performances though.

You can fix rusty with practice. He just played poorly. Now I feel more confident.

Rusty, dusty, crusty, whatever Ben doesn't want to call it... he straight up didnt play like we need our franchise QB to play if we are going to get #7. He owned it like he always does. Hopefully he follows it up with an MVP performance this week.

I think this is being taken out of context. Some kid thought his name was Rusty, and he's just responding to that.

Ben didn't practice yesterday so don't expect a lot of rust to get knocked off.

Not sure what one has to do with the other. Plenty of good QB's that are in shape play poorly and/or get injured.

He clearly looks the best he has in years and was moving around pretty well.

He sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe the injury is worse than he or the team want to admit. Maybe it isn't. Either way, he sure ain't knocking off the rust while standing around.

You know Ben doesn't like competition. If that was the case then Ben would probably throw for 600 yards and 8 TD's next week. :lolol:

Yes... he has not had the reps and practice he needs to be sharp. Oh well... Steelers will start winning in October, November and December. And poop the bed in the playoffs again.
