Exciting. I feel like the Steelers have as many young guys with potential as they've had in quite a few years. It will be interesting to see whether they can reach their potential. I am really interested in how this season goes. Seems more intriguing than it has been in awhile.

I am pretty stoked to see the kid play. He may make some mistakes, but that is part of the learning process. Agree with Roonatic that he will make some splash - at least one big INT.

I think TE earned it. Burnett was less than impressive. I'm not saying TE didn't make mistakes, but at least he showed upside.

I'm actually really excited about this. I wasn't high on the pick when it happened, but this guy is a prototypical Steeler. His coverage ability worries me, but he can make a big play at any moment.

From what we saw (with all the preseason caveats), it seemed to me that Burnett looks solid, while Edmunds has that potential to be explosive. We shall see...

I got the impression that it was more about health. Burnett hasn't been healthy much of the preseason.

I cannot wait. Terrell has earned his. Let us see what he can do. Hopefully he can silence his critics.

However and, moreover to the point, this simply confirms my thoughts on what the Steelers are going to do safety wise. Sean Davis as Free, Terrell as Strong and Burnett as the dime. In addition, we could also see the increase in three safety looks as well.

At this point, given the resources spent, why would they not? Having the best 11 on the field is a major part towards winning against any team; Cleveland or otherwise.

Meh, not really surprising. Wasn't there talk of putting Burnett on the IR designated to return a few days ago?

Who else you want them to start? Dangerfield?

Agree, I think once Burnett is healthy, TE is the first off the bench

I can't wait to see what he does, I will not judge him as this is his first game but he is our 1st rounder and that has expectations. I wasn't a fan of the pick but I am hoping I come to love it. Many of us here have said this defense is better with just Mitchell being gone, now we are starting our 1st rounder who is very athletic........can't wait.

I agree with your logic. But every start an TE grows roots.

Curious why you didnt like the TE pick. Was there somebody else you would have taken at that spot?

I said he would start from day 1. The kid just has intangibles. He is just a fiootball player. He will force at least 1 turnover tmr

Some people wanted Justin Reid. Others Ronnie Harrison. Some even wanted us to reach on a linebacker like Malik Jefferson. I cannot speak directly for NY but I would imagine he felt one of the aforementioned would have been better choices.

As I had stated directly before the draft, Terrell was a Dark Horse candidate for us. When he was going to be picked was the question. Furthermore though, Terrell highlights what the Steelers points of emphasis were heading into this season; sound tackling and communication.

Ronnie Harrison has the sound tackling aspect down but Minkah was the "Pack Leader" in that vaunted Alabama secondary. Justin was really neither a communicator nor sound tackler; a ballhawking, multi role safety being his more accurate description. Said reason is why so many wanted him but that would not have resolved the points of emphasis.

Yet again, to end the whole "Justin Reid vs. Terrell Edmunds" debate, we already have a "Justin Reid" in the name of Sean Davis. What was needed was a multi role Strong Safety with "Pack Leader" traits. Terrell fits that bill to the letter.
