Belichick will probably pick up Jones right before we play the Pats in December....

I think this was a mistake...

If you want to make a SB run I think you need a vet that has regular season experience. I don’t think he was going to pull a Nick Foles, but I think he could at least win us a game or two if need be...

Rudolph and Dobbs balled out against a WEAK Carolina team of backups and future professional movers. It doesn’t give me confidence they can do that against the better NFL teams

Because they realized the team is probably screwed if Roethlisberger misses a few games. It's about balance of the present and potential and this is a significant gamble.

Not a Landry lover or hater, but color me surprised. By all accounts I read, he was one of the most likable players in the locker room. While he may not have the skill level to play well, but I wonder if this at all impacts Ben? Not sure I’d call Landry an Charlie batch equivalent.... but I’d say he has more to mentally contribute than either dobbs or rudolph.

No need to buckle up for me. I’m not getting all stupid over decisions they make that I can’t control.
And if you’ve been paying attention you’d know that I’m not that much of a Tomlin fan.

They need to do what's best for the team and not what makes Ben happy.

Dobbs showed out against backups and future cuts running vanilla defenses and everyone is acting like he's the next Marino.!!!

He played well, kept his poise under pressure and made some nice throws to wide open receivers and sideline jump balls.

Landry has shown he's a capable backup QB winning games that mean something.

Now we are going into the regular season with a SuperBowl contending team with two backups who have NEVER taken a snap against NFL STARTERS in real games.Playing real defenses and not vanilla ones.

How many times has Big Ben played an entire season!!!

This was a dumb move..... And yes I like Dobbs & Mason.....

This regular season experience you speak of is Cleveland. It's pointless. By that logic, Ben should never have went undefeated his rookie year because he had no regular season experience.

First of all Landry Jones pretty much played against the same caliber of opponents that the other quarterbacks did this preseason. Secondly exactly which games that Landry has won as a starter where meaningful? You do know that all three games he’s won as a starter were against the Browns right?

I’m not talking about heir apparent’s.

Of Dobbs, Rudolph and Landry who could win you a game on the road with the division on the line if Ben is out for a week or two, just like Charlie Batch.... I think the player with the best chance this year is Landry.

I just want to point out that LJ had experience beyond those 3 wins.
"5 seasons, 108 of 169 passes for 1,310 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 18 games and five starts."
I'm happy for Dobbs, but I still say it doesn't make sense.

For all we know Dobbs could be the heir apparent instead of Rudolph. I know that's not the plan but things don't always work out the way you think. Think anybody thought a scrub named Brady would succeed Bledsoe?

All NFL games matter Especially division games!!!!! Also in 15' ( I think ) he releaved Vick losing to the cardinals and came back to win. In 16 ( I think ) he played the pats and he played well enough to win.... He wasn't he reason we lost.

Deny if you will but he's a Proven winning backup QB in the NFL..... Dobbs & Mason aren't !!!

Yes because this franchise has made a bunch of poor decisions in the past few decades....

You said capable of winning meaningful games right?
Two of those games he won against the Browns were the last game of the season and the other he was relieved after 3-1/2 minutes because he was ineffective.
He did relieve Vick against the Cards and did very well. Pats game we lost.
So again what meaningful games has he won?
3-2 as a starter. Oh man he’s irreplaceable.....

I’m not saying he didn’t have experience or that he was even bad. Just saying he’s easily replaceable. And the Steelers felt the same way. IMO

I'm surprised. To me, the debate is not so much Landry Jones or Josh Dobbs, it's Jones or Dobbs vs Heyward-Bey. Why still keep Heyward-Bey when they just signed Switzer who is supposed to be a special teams ace?

I'm sure it was a difficult decision for the organization. They made what they thought was the best decision. Can't please everybody.

Glenn not to get into an arguement where I don't have a horse in the race or care one way or the other but.... You are selling Jones short with the Browns stuff. He came closer than Ben at beating the Pats in their house, he showed really well against the Chiefs again in one of the most hostile stadiums in the league and has played solid ball to the level of game manager when ever called on while learning to play under center and using a playbook that was never meant to play to his strengths.

We knew that Dobbs was going to have to showcase his skills and he did. He won the job and now has the opportunity to improve his talents. His legs will get him out of trouble a lot and his mental toughness was evident last season on shaking off early struggles. My hope is RF has a plan to develop a running Qb more so than trying to fit him into a square box.

This is going to be an interesting season and we should all brace ourselves for PWP pushing the wildcat in the redzone posts
