At least for the first 3 rounds should be all defense
    Rd.1 ILB
    Rd.2 Safety
    Rd.3 OLB

They moved up to get him, it was around the 17th pick I think.

JMO but I don't like to put a position to a round. I like your positions of need and really feel ILB and S will be our first two picks. Also around the 3rd round I am interested in a TE and Dline help.

I figure they could go either safety or ILB in the first round, they need to find another capable OLB they have no depth. If they don't address the OLB position in the first 3 rounds then they would have to wait until the 5th rd or later, they don't have a 4th rd pick. They will be fine at TE all three from last season are under contract.

Yeah forgot about no 4th rounder and agree with needing some depth at OLB. I am hoping we address either S or ILB in FA so that isn't that big of a need. Yeah all 3 TE's are under contract but as much as I like Vance his health/production does not equal his salary. 22.2 mil over the next 4 years is a lot for a team struggling with the cap. On a team loaded with offensive weapons havind a TE with potential put up 18 rec a year and eat up cap space is not a good idea. He needs to rip up that contract or we need to look in the draft for a guy, jmo.

ben seems to like mcdonald in a similar way he liked heath. as his security blanket so to speak. i agree about the playing time verses contract though. marcus baugh from the buckeyes would look good in black and gold. his team mate sam hubbard would look good as well in the first as an OLB.

there are some pretty good LB'ers that could be had with those 5th round picks or later. howard TCU. worley Oh.St.. warner BYU. burks Vandy. moore S.Car. bennett Syr. to name a few. all were good LB'ers and really good in coverage.

i wouldn't mind a corner in the first 3 as well. mike hughes from Cent. Fla is a good one. he has some safety ability too and kick and punt return capabilities. we will need that punt returner with eli down.

Yes I agree Ben really liked him and could be a very good weapon but to me it is all about money. At some point you can't keep spending on the offensive side of the ball. Bell, AB, Ben, the oline lots of money tied up there need to spend something on the defense and Vance may have to be the price we pay. The draft is full of TE's and just this past weekend we saw guys like Conklin, Smythe, Yelder and Thomas who could be that guy, jmo.

As for ILB's man there are a few I like already. Burks, Leonard, McCray all looked nice this past weekend especially liked McCray. Also I really like Cam Smith from USC and Cabinda from Penn st.

Maybe they could work out a new contract for McDonald to lower his cap hit, the same for Haden.

Yes that is what I am hoping for as well. I like Vance and think he could be a great weapon for Ben but just not at the current price.

Rather have Strong Safety in Round One but the Free Agency Period is so far off from now.

i have a feeling it's going to be davis, malik golden, brian allen and ??????? maybe a draft pick. that would be a young group to say the least but the athleticism would increase. they liked golden before his injury and he was playing well in the preseason and in camp up to that point. good tackler (which is a plus) good range. will be an interesting guy to watch.

as for allen, i wish he would have gotten a few reps on the back end last year even if it was in cleanup duty. could he become the anti gronk? time will tell. he's got some size. money will determine a lot this off season, we just may see young at many spots.

We sure could use one of those third round compensatory picks this year.

I read a couple of articles that speculated we would get a 5 comp for Timmons, we will see of course......

    Steel city underground:
Timmons should net the Steelers a pick between rounds five to seven. That would balance out the original seven picks the Steelers had, and give them eight total picks spread through the seven total rounds. With the McDonald pick only moving them back a handful of spots, missing out on the fourth round might not be so bad in the long run, and there's still a chance they could jump ahead of their fifth-rounder from San Francisco with an additional compensatory pick.

I am curious to see what the Steelers will do with M. Bryant and other players.

Maybe package some players to strengthen their options?

What are you thinking, I for one do not want to send MB any where but if the right deal came alone I would consider it. MB at 705k is a player we need to keep right now with us having cap issues, he can far out play his salary. jmo

This will be an interesting season. No money, a RB that may or may not play on the tag, no money to tag him, MB in the final year of his contract, Eli out, Conner out. The offense isn't as set as most think either.

Then we have the defense. No money, shazier out, S position in shambles, OLB will have to have a decision made on the 5th year option, Harrison gone, moats gone, chickillo needing re-signed, ILB spot needs a new starter and depth, corner depth is a question mark.

This is a lot to deal with for a team with no money. I think this will be quite a different looking team on both sides of the ball next year. We need to find some more Mike Hilton's for cheap.

Marcus Tucker may be a good start at wr.

Kion Adams, Farrington huguenin, Keith Kelsey, Matt galambos at LB.

A couple of corners deshaun Phillips, grey ducre, Antonio Crawford may come into play.

Malik golden, Dangerfield Brian Allen at safety.

I expect some of these guys will make this team next year because of money. It may even affect when we draft a certain position. We tend to like these type of players that have some type of time in the league and around our team. Remember we only have so many guys under contract 39 I believe and are over the cap already. We need some cheap players to be able to fill the team out. We can't get them all through the draft.

People keep sayin no money but what they need to say is hard decisions cuts are gonna need to be made and some guys that a lot of people don't want to see gone will have to take a cut or bye bye.

    cuts:
    Mitchell 5 mil
    McDonald 4.318...try to re sign
    Wilcox 3.125
Foster 2.675 replace with Finney or Feiler
    Gay 1.75
    Golden 1.475
    Sensabaugh 1.4

That right there is 19.7 mil and guys that can be replaced with people on our roster or draft picks. We don't have any major players here that are show stoppers. Add the fact we can exted Ben, Pouncey and Haden while also restructuring Tuitt we will have more money than most think. Also is there a chance we get a special adjustment from the league for Shazier, I am not sure how that works. We will have the money for Bell, a FA or 2 and the draft guys.

To be honest I haven't looked at it too much, I would like us to be able to go into the draft and
possibly be able to make moves (proactive) to get a player that could help us on the defensive side of the ball.
Unfortunatley we can't afford everybody we might like to keep. You get my drift. A huge long term commitment that MB
will want I don't see the Steelers making this type of offer. JUJU can more than make up the difference and remember KC
    CAN evaluate the WR position.
