How Disappointing last season was to you ?

    I will go with a 6.

Ending the season with the worst defensive performance in the history of Steelers post-season football makes it a 9.5 for me.

At least a 9. I agree Jack a unsteeler like playoff defense. Shazier or not, one guy doesn't make a defense that bad or shouldn't.

01 was the most disappointed I have ever been as a Steeler fan. 94 was a close second. I will give 01 a 10. 94 a 9. And this season gets an 8.

Right now I give it a 10 because I feel like we shouldn't even be having this discussion. Such a talented offense and yet they still couldn't close the deal.

I’ve watched the Steelers longer than most of you have been alive. This one is the toughest for me. We had too much talent.

    A tremendously wasted opportunity.

    10. they finally fielded a team capable of knocking off the Patriots (generating front 4 pressure without having to constantly blitz, FINALLY!!) and an offense that can go blow to blow with them.. And, they blow it against Blake ****ing Bortles. Not to mention we were a Sean Davis INT drop and bull**** TD reversal away from possibly a completely different outcome. They still had their chance with the cards dealt, and blew it.

Where was this pressure with the front 4 you're talking about? Tuitt played hurt, Alualu wasn't good but Heyward was a beast. Yeah, they were able to get pressue with their D-line at times but not consistently, remember the colts game? A team with a banged up, patchwork o-line and they got almost no pressure. How about the pressure they got on the Jags??

If they had a good D-line, not just 1 or 2 players, they might have got some pressure. When it was clear Tuitt wasn't 100% teams simply double teamed Heyward and ran on us for 4+ yards per carry and we never even sniffed Bortles. This was a 9 in disappointment, aside from the Texans and Titans game this team looked on the verge of defeat in just about every game.

I know we were 13-3 but how many here thought the Steelers looked as good as their record? The defense did well early on but those were against offenses they were ranked near the bottom of the league, and then the offense finally began to click and the defense progressively got worse and it was like the coaches didn't do anything different, yeah it was heartburn city every week, major disappointing season that ranks in my top 5 disappointing seasons.

I would say a 7. Amazing this team went 13-3 with that defense.

Problem is that all that major talent was on one side of the ball. If not fixed the result will be the same...

Tomlin has already indicated that it's status quo with the defensive coaching staff so I don't anticipate that he'll make any material changes to the player personnel group either. Joey Porter is still the OLB coach. Carnell Lake is still the DB coach. And mark it down, MIKE "FLIPPIN'" MITCHELL WILL BE THE STARTER AT SAFETY NEXT SEASON and we'll get to endure more of the same! No INTs, no passes defensed, getting burned for big play after big play, and a whole lot of him running his freaking mouth!

9.5 in disappointment, like I said in another thread, it's not the lose but how they lost, score 42 points and loose, almost unheard of, then find out your head coach was more involved with the defense that gave up 45 points. Plus the fact that no changes on defense are being made. Just crazy to me.

I rank it about a 8 to 9. To go 13-3 isn't easy. There were many wins by FG's or one point etc. A few of them go the other way, Steelers could of been 11-5 easily. I know the Jags had a good D and such, but there was no reason to lose at HOME to them. But, everyone was way to over confident. Everybody, Coaches, Players, Fan base, everybody. I think it's more devastating to lose a Super Bowl. Could you imagine if we finally got to the Super Bowl again and beat New England, only to lose to the Eagles. OMG, it be terrible.

But, I still don't think we would of beat the Pats in Foxboro this season. Not the way the defense was playing the in 2nd half of the season.

The Jags do have a good D, no doubt. But we put up 42 points against them. The Jags do not have a good offense, it's very average and their quarterback is the epitome of mediocrity. And our D allows them to score 45 points against us. You can say 38 but you'd better believe if the strip sack hadn't gone for a touchdown the mighty Blake Bortles would have gotten them into the endzone against our pathetic D

And what does our brilliant coach do? He decides not to renew the contract of our offensive coordinator. In the meantime, our defensive coordinator and every freaking coach on the defense gets a pass!

I think I'm done for awhile, guys. The closer we get to the Super Bowl it seems like the angrier I get at Tomlin and that pathetic defensive coaching staff thinking about what could have been and what great offensive talent we've wasted. The regression and lack of development of some of those highly drafted and highly touted defensive guys is troubling. Another year of Ben's window wasted. I'm going to change my rating from a 9.5 to a 10 now that I think more about it!

3 or so. I never thought we could beat the Pats because we didnt make a move at the Safety spot. I was convinced we would stick to the do what we do approach and that would not be enough .

This Team just doesn't have that IT factor ,I don't expect much more than playoffs until they make major moves to improve the defense .

I disagree PWP I think they have the IT factor all over the place it just was not focused into a clear and concise vision for the team. I had high hopes when they brought in Haden and made some moves in FA that the team almost never makes that they were all in to win this season. However as the early season progressed it looked like Ben was still considering retirement and the focus was not there. If they focus all that potential and harnessed it, no team in the NFL stood a chance. However you know what they say about ifs and buts.

I’d rate the season as about a 5, lots of new faces that got me excited again, some changes in camp that had me hopeful, lots of games that had me reaching for my bp meds, but ultimately I was cautiously uninvested in the final outcome so that I wasn’t as let down.

I’d give it a 7 because the defense was a big Achilles heel in the second half of the season as I never had confidence in them stopping poor to mediocre offenses! They played like the San Diego chargers of the early eighties in the last half of the year!I know the loss of Shazier was huge but good defenses find ways to hold the fort!Fantastic offense but the defensive is very subpar!Even with a great offense you need at least an average defense and the Steelers defense was pretty lousy in the second half of the season no matter what the stats say!!!

Fair enough, but on D I still see the IT factor with a big SH in front of it . On O yes we have talent all over the place on D our secondary is you know what overall.

That's the problem the majority of the talent is on offense, the defense isn't good enough.

It was a disappointing end to the season, but with the way the defense played down the stretch they weren't going to win the SB.
