Just signed up now as this is a first post:Very, very concerned about our secondary as the red zone channel kept referring to our defense as backups playing while resting our starters! They are our starters and below average qb’s look like pro bowlers who ever we play.Burns,Davis, and Mitchell are always a step or two away from the receiver catches the ball. When they do break up plays it’s either borderline interference or the receiver drops the ball.Hayden,to me is a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10 but in our secondary looks like a pro bowler because the rest of our db’s wouldn’t even be starting on most teams!Thank goodness we do have Hayden because he does make a difference. We have a shot at seven but feel our offense has to score 30 to 35 for the final three games which could happen but we can’t miss a beat.No confidence in our secondary what so ever!!

Alualu more of a tackle or end than a nose guard. I think he out plays Tuitt and Hargrave

Mitchell was the one who Brady abused in the last drive and two point conversion in the Pats game. I mean it was embarrassing for him.

Mitchell is no where near breaking up a pass unless he gets a great hit on the receiver. You never see him use his hands to knock down a pass because he is a few steps late to the ball!

We are terrible up the middle: NT/ILB/S. Shazier's speed covered a ton of problems.

And as for the question I am very concerned.you would think with a see that gets this many sacks it wouldn't be quite the problem that it is

Profootball Focus thinks fairly highly of Hargrave, although he doesn't seem to be favorite here. They rate him "above average" at his position.

I feel like he was more visible early in the year. He hasn't done much lately, at least to my untrained eye.

They were actually very good against the run today. The overall numbers are misleading due to Kizer's scrambling.

You mean safety. Mitchell. Davis at least makes some plays. The Defense as a whole concerns me, run and pass. Our best Defense is our Offense at this point. Can only hope this D can step up at the right time and make a swing play. Thank goodness we got Haden. Sutton needs to be on the field. Gay should sit. Tuitt has not been a standout but today it seemed he was getting a push with no Heyward. Like said Alualu was a beast today and should see more playing time. Our strength is upfront. TJ Watt is a player. Dupree has been a disappointment. This Defense is what it is now. We ride with what we have. I'm looking forward to that ride. But i'll tell ya, I really need the bye week :hehehe:

Earlier in the year he was on point and I felt needed more snaps... He's gone lukewarm as of late.

It does seem like he has regressed. He is getting pushed around and he isn't making plays. He came close to a big play on the one screen, but failed to make the tackle.

Yeah he was soooooo close on that!

Then Bud sliding off of kizer... Man they left a lot of negative yds in the backfield today.

Gay still has, as he showed today, the ability to come up with a big play at the right time. I think this ability is discounted too easily by some.

I like his veteran presence for this reason.

Big play Willie gay is a heckuva lot more sparse now these days honestly. Love having him here and his punching of the ball out today, but he's really slowed down. Hope he has another trick or 2 left in the bag in this home stretch.

I would have liked to see some of Hilton at safety. I know he's small, but he's a much better tackler than any of the guys they have back there.

But there's no outside shuffling here it seems. Gay could make a good safety at this point, but we ain't seeing it this year would be my guess. He's more heady then Mitchell in the least.

A lot of those 3rd and long conversions were because of Kaizer's legs. We are historically horrible against running QBs, and today was no exception.

That being said, I'm not concerned about 300+ yard passers. We still won. With our bench-warmers, no less. Oh wait, that was our starting D? Um...

Hilton is probably the best tackler on the team. I absolutely love that guy.

I doubt they address the safety position 3 times in the draft, more likely they draft one safety and sign one in free agency.

I am good with that except I think a QB is top priority. Ben is not going to be with us long if he plays next season. Jones and Dobbs are not it. I am sure you were posting for defensive purposes only so I do agree.

I know everyone hates Gay, but I like Gay. I think he is a little too slow to play CB now, but I think he would be head and shoulders above Mitchell at FS.
