The Patriots were missing guys that day, too. They were without Branch and Van Noy on defense and Hogan on offense. You remember Hogan, right? The guy the Steelers couldn't cover in the AFC Championship game. Well, one of them.

Is Belichik flawless? No. Is his track record significantly better than Tomlin's? Without question.

And yes, the Steelers were out of sync early in the season. That is my point. The long layoff between games is likely to get them out of sync again. It is ridiculously optimistic to assume they will quickly shake the rust off, especially against one of the league's top defenses.

My point that you missed is that the Steelers are setting themselves up to have the same troubles they had early in the season by not playing their guys every opportunity they get.

Also, your knowledge of the Jaguars seems to be limited to that one game. I'm talking about what they have done all season. When they are on, they start fast. Maybe they don't get a big lead early, but their defense is in control, which it clearly was even before the flurry of interceptions against the Steelers. The best way to play them is to start fast. That's what the 49ers did last week. That's what the Cardinals did a few weeks ago. That's what the Titans did early in the season.

That's what the Steelers will have a hard time doing after going three weeks without any game action.

They had 2 pick sixes off of Ben, without those 5 ints I doubt they would've won the game.

The Jags have the best defense in the league. It's not what they did against the Steelers in the earlier game, it's what they have done this whole season.
We will have to be at the top of our game to beat them. What scares me the most is the 3 weeks off and although I think that helps Bell and Brown, it's Ben that worries me the most if he starts throwing high again and not in sync with his receivers. Would prefer he play's a couple of series instead of the long layoff. Belecheat and Coughlin both would do the same and play their starter's some.

    I
I said USC QB will be a good one. Things didn't go well. He didn't act immature. Just because Kirk H told him to stay in college doesn't mean he is 100 % correct either, though I do agree with Kirk H. I wouldn't want to go to Cleveland. Darnold actually said in interview that he would play for any team. The UCLA QB basically is pulling an Eli/Elway. He should stay in college for another year and get his degree. I do like his temperment and attitude. As a coach, I really appreciate watching a guy act mature during adversity. I am sorry if you think I was suggesting the Steelers need Sam Darnold.

Oklahoma QB's??? Seriously who has come out of those universities? Refresh my memory. Most of them have done nothing but hang out at the Heisman house making commercials or can't take a snap without going on IR. We have Oklahoma QB in LJ, why do we need another?

Exactly. I'd play him for a half, then base the rest on what's happening in New England.

It took, what? Half a season or longer for the offense to finally hit its stride? We cannot afford rust.

I guarantee you that not only will New England play their starters, but they'll still be in the game with 3 minutes to go and up 5 scores... running up the score some more.

It's not about the #1 seed. That ship sailed 2 weeks ago. It would take a miracle to get it now. It's about staying sharp. Treat it like a pre-season game and only play the starters a half, or until up by 2 scores, whichever comes first.

Obviously, if someone really needs a week off due to injury, sit him. Everyone else should be getting snaps.

The biggest problem against the jags is we cannot stop the run. That is a scary notion
