True. But they’ve usually got the Chargers number as well, and they really should have lost to them this week.

I thought last year they were ripe for the pickings after we looked remotely ok against them with Landry. Brady could beat us throwing to Mark Wahlberg and Phil Simms.

Must have pressure on the QB if we are going to compete against New England.
With out pressure, Brady will throw for 500 yds. We must change our game plan if we are going to beat New England soft zone will never work.

    Yep.

It does not matter what form of coverage it is. Brady has seen just about every form of coverage possible.

To beat him, you need to pressure him. You can pressure Staford but now one less man is there to defend in the air.

Dude, your bromance with the Patriots is beyond words. Every thread you find a way to mention the Patriots and how infallible they are. I am 100% convinced you are either a Patriots fan, a Patriots fan trapped in a Steelers fan body, or you are Tom Brady. Confessing is the first step towards redemption!

No, I'm a REALIST and long-time Steelers fan. I hate the Patriots with the passion of 10,000 exploding Supernovas. I believe Joe Montana is the greatest QB of all time... not Tom Brady.

I call it like it is... and this Steelers team will not beat the Patriots in December and January unless:

    1. Tom Brady goes on IR
    2. The Patriots TEs, RBs and WRs all come down with the flu on December 16th.

I've outlined the reasons why the Steelers can't compete with the Patriots in many threads. To sum it up... there's not enough consistency on offense to generate the points required to topple the Patriots. And.... the Steelers defense has never matched up well against the Patriots offense and it STILL DOES NOT match up well against the Patriots offense. This has been going on since '02 opening week MNF game vs. Pats.

I used to be like you. I'd blindly believe and have faith the Steelers could beat anybody. The Steelers CAN beat 30 teams on any given Sunday. Every team except that one up in New England.

If Brady tries and throws that pass it’s either going to be picked or he’s going to get his WR killed. You have to have an absolute cannon to fit that ball in there.

Look Mr. Brady, you make a pretty big assumption when you say you used to be like me. You have absolutely no idea what I think, and I highly doubt you were ever like me. I don't "blindly" believe anything...I'm too old to have that luxury. I may "blindly" hope that the Steelers win each game. I guess I haven't reached your enlightened level of consciousness about the Steelers inability to beat the Patriots. This is exactly the kind of response I would expect from a Patriots fan! Sorry, I guess your loathing of the Patriots isn't so obvious to me. Unfortunately, I'm not intelligent enough to read between the lines of your admiration for the Patriots to realize how much you dislike them.

U mad bro? Go on and believe what you want about me. Hell... people believe in sh!t all of the time that ain't real. This is no different.

You are right. I guess I do suffer from envy and jealousy when it comes to the Patriots. The Patriots do more with less, while the Steelers do less with more. I wish the Steelers offense was as consistent as the Patriots in the red zone. I wish the Steelers defense could make the necessary in-game adjustments to overcome it's deficiencies. On paper, the Steelers should be the best offense in the league. In reality, Steelers are statistically middle-of-the-pack in the NFL and it's total waste of talent, in my opinion, given the fact they have the best RB and WR in the NFL, a future HOF QB and an O-line that is top 5 in the NFL in run blocking and pass protection.

So, yes... I have every right to b!tch and whine when the Steelers offense doesn't live up to it's potential.

Josh McDaniel is gathering his best plays that work against a cover 2, and creating his full game plan for the Steelers as the years goes on.

I must be the only one around here that feels like this year is different. I wasn't delusional thinking the D could do it last year in the AFCCG. I was only hoping the offense would win a battle of attrition. Didn't work out that way.

This year's D is different. They're faster and smarter than last year. Stafford made some perfect throws, and on some of those completions the defender was in perfect position. Sometimes, you just cant beat a perfect throw.

The D is clicking and playing really well together. The offense is FINALLY showing some signs of life. It's clear right now that the Ben we've expected all these years is not on the field (can he come back? who knows), but he's nowhere near as bad as he was to start the season. The difference between this year and previous years is that we don't need Ben to win the games for us. He just needs to be smart with the ball and make plays (which he's done 3 weeks in a row now). The D is doing their job. Thats all you can ask.

I try to be optimistic without loosing sight of facts and reality. But like yourself, I feel this year is different.

Right now, we seem to have 6 cans. But the cans keep rolling around. We need the little plastic thingie that holds them together. And that is leadership that must come from within the players.

Now watch some cretin twist this into an anti Tomlin opportunity.

Mad...no, not from words on a message board where I can respond, not respond, or ignore all together. I don't have a belief about you one way or another...I don't know you. If you think I know you by your words and a picture of a yellow mustard container, well, you have issues bigger than I can fix. In this situation, I merely pointed out what your words led me to believe, however I have given you the appearance that I am attacking you personally, so for that I apologize. You do you sir. If you say that by saying the Patriots are the greatest thing since sliced bread and when you say that you are really saying you hate the Patriots, than so be it.

I never did say the Patriots were the best thing since sliced bread. The Patriots can be beaten and beaten soundly. Other teams have proven this. Examples: the Giants and Broncos have had their number over the years and recently the Chiefs, Panthers and Seahawks have had good success at shutting down Brady and offense, while scoring points against Patriots D. The teams I've listed do an excellent job of adjusting and making calls to limit Patriots offense. And now for the tough questions.

Do the Steelers have the talent on defense to beat the Patriots and hold their offense below 30 points? I believe they do now with the addition of Watt, Haden and Hilton. Will the Steelers defenders be put in a position and game plan accordingly to maximize their talents and effectiveness when going up against the Patriots offense? I seriously doubt it.

Brady can tear up zone or man, sure. The idea is they have to be able to mix up coverages just as they mix up rush schemes. That was part of the problem against the Patriots in the AFCCG. They kept running the same damn schemes over and over again.

This defense is better. Heyward is back and maybe they can actually have both him and Tuitt for the playoffs. Watt is a great addition. So is Haden. Having a running game from the start rather than a broken Bell stumbling around would certainly help, too.

And yes, the Patriots will have Gronk, but they won't have Edelman. That will matter, too.

After 8 games the patriots rank 18th in scoring TDs in the red zone, of course we are more pathetic ranking 30th in the red zone, if we use this bye week wisely we can improve our red zone stats if we dont use this time wisely we will continue our red zone struggles:

I found it interesting Arizona is last. I always thought BA had a great offense between the 20s but lousy in the red zone. Apparently that is still true. I did think after he left, we would get better. That is also true, we are up to number 30. Ok, what is the constant on offense? Ben?
