Well, after long thought, I will not be attending any games this year. I usually try to hit one a year with my kids, but after reflecting on the many controversies in the NFL, many steelers players attitudes..... coupled with ticket prices. I just don't see attending.

Originally, I was looking at the Patriots game, yes I know it's a premium game..... but it's either that or the Browns game on New Years Eve day (as one of my kids returns from college in December). So I was browsing stub hub, which historically can be high for some and not bad for others. But to see tickets in the upper 500's going for around $200 a ticket..... and my normal club seats going in excess of $600 a ticket, was a bit shocking to me.

Sorry to the other Steeler ticket holders that are trying to bilk me into paying their entire season's worth of tickets for one game, I will chose to spend my money locally at a restaurant with my kids as opposed to spending $800-2,500 for 4 tickets.

    Pure insanity to me.

That was the game of the year on the schedule. So it's going to be an in demand game, and it's shaping up to be a huge show down.

Your right it's pretty crazy money, but so is the Super Bowl, yet people pay to go, if they really want to.

Always going to be cheaper watching it on your nice 60" TV in high def.

But I'm glad to have gone to a lot of sweet games at Heinz field in person, but I can see your point it adds up fast.

You are still almost 2 months away, so of course tickets are going to be sky high. If you can wait until closer to gameday, you will get tickets much cheaper. If you can hold out until about 2:00 on gameday, you will get a bargain.

fyi, the steelers themselves are selling the patriots game for $200ea for uppers. i was looking to go too, and was taken aback by the price they are charging. you can see for yourself - https://www1.ticketmaster.com/pitts...msg-0_1600528BDBD3C0D5&seedValue=v2#efeat4212

"standard ticket" are the steelers tickets being sold by the team.. "verified resale ticket" are individual people selling. it's cheaper to buy from the aftermarket than the steelers tbh.

Secondary market is aids but without it a lot of people wouldn't be able to attend games. European soccer doesn't have an official secondary market and they frown upon it. That was the scariest ticket moment in my life. Dropping 600 and not knowing if I'd get in and even if we didn't there wasn't a 100% we would get a refund. Ticket price is like £20-50 and it's around the same prices on secondary market not any cheaper.

Doesn't help you want to go to the most popular home game. Also, think about it if you are going to sell it months in advance you are going to set the price high and hope somebody bites and slowly bring it down closer to gametime. I know it sucks when planning a trip but the closer you can get to the game the better the prices will be.

Wow, last game I went to was an exhibition game against the Eagles. Didn't realize how out of hand is has become. Now I understand why my son and family have set up a bank account to save up and attend a Dallas game next season. He is a Steeler fan but lives in La.

You think football is bad, try Hockey even more expensive. Professional sports

is an expensive proposition for an average wage earner like myself. I have been fortunate

to have been to alot of sporting events. I use to scalp lots of Steeler games. As I age

I don't seem to have the same enthusiasm for attending live events as I once did. Especially

    in cold weather LOL.

Depending on how far you have to travel, I anticipate the stadium being half empty for the Browns game. It’s New Years eve, the Browns will be toast so their fans won’t travel, and it’s possible the game may not mean much for us. Possible. Therefore, there will be a lot of scalper tickets available at face value or less. Especially right before game time.

    I’m going.

Brought my 9 year old son to his 1st game last week. I paid $250 a ticket with fees for section 511, row AA. Add in another $600 for airfare and $400 for hotel.

But my son had the time of his life. This will become a yearly tradition.

Just as a point of reference, tickets on NFL ticket exchange for tomorrow nights game against the Lions are starting at $70. And will probably be even less tomorrow. If you wait to buy you can save a lot of money, and with electronic tickets (email) there's no danger of not getting them in time.

We're driving distance and try to make it an annual tradition for the wife and I. We've gone 3 times in the last 4 years and this year we worked a Pens game in too. Every year the ticket prices and hotel prices get higher. This past trip was downright painful cost wise.

I won’t be attending a Browns game, seen enough of them over the years.... especially in what could be a meaningless game..... on a holiday. Thanks for the suggestions.
