I think the biggest concern I remember reading about JJSS ( pre draft )was his lack of separation from DB's. The thought being, if you can't get much separation in college then every potential catch in the NFL will be heavily contested.

Im just glad that the Steelers are actually letting their rookies play. It wasnt long ago that Steeler rookies never saw the field until the end of their first season.
Just glad that era is over. Let the Young bucks learn by getting on the field.

I, like most other posters wanted a safety in 2nd round. But
after I went to training camp and saw JJSS. I thought he maybe very good insurance
if MB gets suspended for life.

I advocated early and often for James Conner in last years draft, hope he sees more carries as the weeks go on.

I had the same thought with a safety. But when I saw Coates drop what would have been a long gain in the AFCC, I realized we needed WR depth as well. And at draft time (maybe still) Bryant was a big if.

JJSS is much more than just insurance for MB. He's a chess piece in his own right. WR sets are the norm in the NFL, and as he develops JJ will be able to do a lot more than the typical slot receiver. Even if he remains the 3rd receiver for a few years, I think he'll be very productive, including as a blocker in the run game.
