..and after week 1, I like it even less.

Sure, sure, we can go on and on about saying it's way too early to tell if he or Sutton will end up being quality decisions, but consider the following.

1.) Even if WR were a position of need, the Steelers have proven over and over again that their best WRs come from later rounds. AB, MB, Rogers - none early. With such bigger needs elsewhere why draft Ju Ju in the 2nd? Not to mention, I don't think he is very special. He was a train wreck week 1. I know, most rookies are.

2.) What CB's were available when we took Ju Ju?

    - Witherspoon, 6-3, with 4.45 speed. Not a hitter but rare skills.

    - Moreau, 4.35 speed from UCLA.

    - Lewis, from UM. Tenacious.

So we ended up with Sutton and Ju Ju. I'm not so sure sure.

I hated the pick from the very get go but now all we can do is sit back and hope it was a good selection. Nothing more, nothing less.

Many of us weren't fans of a WR in round 2. And it wasn't anything against Ju Ju. He's young. I have full faith in a couple of years fr now he will be a very good WR.

I would have personally have taken CB Cordrea Tankersley, albeit, teams know more than I because he ended up falling far (4th round?). I saw that he did have 1 INT in the pre season.

I think most of the animosity came from not only taking a WR in round 2 but guys like (Brace yourselves....) Obi Melifonwu, Josh Jones and Awuzie disappearing right in front of us.

    It was heartbreaking.

I did not like it either.

    I loved it.

Given Pittsburghs issues not only moving the chains as well as redzone issues, a physical receiver is exactly what the doctor ordered.

JuJu will more than likely see his fair share of trials and tribulations later on this season. However, giving up on him in a day where the entire offense not named Jesse James nor Antonio Brown elelcted to show up is quite insensible.

Like SteelCity stated, give him some time. Every draft pick cannot be a T.J. Watt in their grand debut.

Yea, i agree i had several people i wanted that were on the board when the Steelers selected Ju Ju.
Ju Ju wasnt even on my board because there was really no need for a reciever in the 2nd.
Some of the people still sitting there for us were
jordan Willis, Chris Wormley, Alex Anzalone, Tim Williams, Fabian Moreau, Derek Rivers, and Jourdan Lewis to name a few.
Not to mention Ju Ju wasnt even the best receiver left IMO.
I liked Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, and Kenny Golladay more.
I hope it works out because he is a Steeler now and ill root for him but that was one stupid pick at the time IMO.

I hated the pick until I saw how excited he was to play for the Steelers and embraced the city. He seemed more excited than Watt. I follow JuJu on all his social media and he seems immature like he's always joking and stuff. Would explain his lack of preparation and all the penalties. It's like you've been injured 3 times and you just had a horrible debut, it might be time to focus. I still don't see him bringing anything to the team this year but I hope he proves me wrong. I like him but I just hate the pick for so many reasons. We had so many WRs we have been developing over the years that I think are more prepared than him right now and could of had a bigger impact on this season but he's a #2 pick so got to be on the roster. Hoping he proves me wrong and it works out this year and in the future.

4th WR on my board, borderline 1st round grade. The draft isn't just about today, it's about the big picture... Martavis Bryant will be gone in 2 years, Juju will be going in to his 3rd year.

    Yep.

People forget that Martavis will likely be gone by then. The drafting of JuJu solved so many more problems than others are giving him credit for.

How does that work since he missed a year because of stupidity? Sites got him as an UFA in 2018.

Absolutely. Long term, JuJu will be a smart pick.

As I said after we took him, just not sure what he is going to bring to the table in 2017.

I'll bet there are people who would, at this point, trade JuJu and Sutton for Kiser.

I don't judge Kevin Colbert on his draft choices for Wide Recivers and even what rounds he takes them in,he is a mad genius.
Here is a list: of the good ones. He has has a few misses but rarely.
Plaxico Buress, Antwan Randle El, Nate Washington, Santanio Holmes, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders,Antonio Brown, Martivus Bryant.

Further review Wasington was an undrafted FA but I'll still give Colbert credit on him.

I hope he turns into a serviceable receiver, but with your franchise qb possibly retiring soon, I'd tend to think there were other areas of need in the second round that better support a "win now" narrative.

This is very much what I was feeling. After reflecting and watching everything I could on JuJu after we picked him, I got pretty excited about the pick. I think he's going to be a very good player once he gets A bit of seasoning. Folks need to be patient. The light doesn't come on for everyone day 1.

Youngest player in the draft plus missed alot of time in training camp due to injuries.

He will need a while to get up to speed.

I hated the pick and still do. I hope JuJu proves me wrong, but I think he'll be another Will Blackwell/Troy Edwards/Willie Reid type of player with very little impact.

Steelers needed corner or safety in round 2. :frown:

I agree it's way too early to make conclusions. But that being said, we needed CB help desperately and we ended up taking a guy in Sutton who was the 18th ranked CB in the draft, and frankly, I haven't seen anything from him that makes me question that ranking. This is yet another case of the front office trying to be tricky and cute instead of making the obvious pick. They did this same thing with the O line for years, before finally making drafting O linemen a priority and finally fixing a glaring weakness. I detest when ego comes before success.

19 DBs were drafted before JuJu
5 WRs were drafted before JuJu

In the first round, you draft for need... in the rest of the draft you look towards BPA. There's no question when it comes to taking the 6th WR in the draft verse the 20th DB... especially when Juju was universally ranked higher than the remaining DBs.
