This. If that happens, we lose. Ben needs to play at least good if not great.

You have to go down the field sometimes. We need to put up a lot of points, a close game will tip in NE's favor, I'm afraid.

If we have a conservative game plan, it will be close.

My concern would be a too conservative offensive game plan. Also making offensive adjustments if things are not working out. Example would be if The Patriots go all out in stopping the run and we keep trying to run up the middle. We need to make quicker game time adjustments and take what they give us, make long time consuming drives that keeps Brady on the sidelines. The time of possession will also help to keep our defense fresh. We need to do this as the game is going on and not wait until half time for adjustments.

I agree with you. I'm just saying only take it if it's actually there though. I just don't want to be wasting downs against them with cute stuff.

We haven't seen Big Ben since the first time we played KC.

    It's been all Bell.

    What are you talking about...

Ben has been an interception machine, how about you look up his TD/INT ratio since then. It's not good.

Bell is the reason that the Steelers are in the AFC Championship. I'm not saying that we would make it with Landry, but take away Bell and we are lucky to win the division with the way Ben has played.

A perfect example is last week. We scored 0 TDs. Why? Because we go away from Bell in the red zone every single time.

BTW. I was at the game. You can see me in the Bell 40 yard highlight. WHERE were you, fan?

This is why I think Belichick focuses on stopping Bell, at least in the first half. Keeping our possessions brief saps our defense AND gets Marsha & Co. back on the field that much faster.

So I guess bad ben didn't get us back in the game vs Cincinnati or Baltimore on Christmas or going what 15/15 against miami in the first 2 quarters to basically end the game.

And I love him and we wouldn't be where we are w/o him, but Ben needs to play great. We know what Brady is going to do, that's no surprise, but the biggest question is: Can Ben play big on the road?

I'll be honest and say I think he will. He didn't play badly in KC. We can debate his audible choices, but he made some really great throws that took some great defense to break up, like the play to Brown. At the end of the game he came through really huge with 2 great passes again. Those are confidence boosters, which even a HoF QB like Ben needs.

    Because of what?

A high throw by Ben. That throw almost cost us the game, the defense (Harrison) saved the day.

Look... I love Ben, but we need him to play like we know he can and not what we've seen to beat the Patriots.

He played well in KC, but couldn't score TDs (and it almost cost us the game).

I'm not doubting your stance I agree with you I'm just correcting your stats for you. I thought he performed brilliantly until he got stupid and wish he did the same this week minus the stupid part.

It put the dolphins into striking distance. Imagine if they score a TD off that turnover. Game completely changes and Dolphins stay within striking distance.

If that happens against the Patriots, we lose!

And the same could be said about Bell, they are both important.

Difference: Bell is lights out and Ben is scaring people.

Not getting pressure on Marsha, historically, our sacks all but disappear vs Brady. I think they coach them how to stop the typical James Harrison bull rush on the outside..... so we need pressure inside. If we don't make Marsha sweat, it could be a long day.

Part of the problem getting sacks vs Brady is the fact that he doesn't hold the ball very long. Slants, screens and quick outs are really the way they pick apart our D which in large part is because our CBs play 10-14 yards off the ball.

Biggest concern is our inconsistent offense. We must have 4 quarters of strong offense.

The defense is what it is. If the defense has a great day, that is gravy.

Special teams are not so special. Best you can hope here is they do not screw up.

Our only advantage over NE is when our offense is clicking, it is second to none. Need a big day from both Bell and Brown and no picks thrown by Ben.

Bell is a great weapon and someone we clearly missed, but the way Williams ran the ball to start the season and even last season when Bell got hurt showed that all is not lost when Bell goes down. However what happened when Ben went down? Or when Ben was hurt vs Denver? Even without Bell AND Brown he almost got the job done on his own.

Bell is important but Ben is integral.
