Apparently, the whole cleat thing with AB has been going on for a few weeks. I didn't even realize him and the league had been in to it over it. Here's an article documenting the whole saga. Not a bad article but the only thing about it that's annoying is they keep referring to our colors as "Black and Yellow". It's GOLD people! GOLD!

If the cleats are team colors then it shouldn't be an issue. Why can't players wear fancy cleats and do funny dances when they score? Is this not a game, is it not entertainment? Lol

As Maximus would say "Are you not entertained???!!!" LOL! Those Ali cleats were sweet too. Float like a butterfly. Sting like AB.

I actually think it's time for Tomlin to have a farther-son talk with AB. We can't have this every week. Okay to have fun but the game is not always something with you AB, weather it's shoes or dancing, it's still a team game.. Every week it's something, now everybody is looking his way including the NFL, and officials.

Tomlin needs to pull the reins in some, not real hard but slow it down some so it doesn't get out of hand.

Next weeks cleats were supposed to be in honor of Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins. Guess that's not happening unless he is very creative.

Where does it stop tho? It's not like he was wearing blue cleats or orange. They were black and gold. As long as it is in good taste (tributes to sports icons who have passed away seems like good taste to me) why should it matter if they are custom?

There's a reason why the NFL's ratings are dropping and bs like this plays a part. Can't have cool cleats because Goodell, can't celebrate/dance because goodell, but you sure as he!! can take a knee during the national anthem because the players needs to be able to "express themselves". It's a joke.

Goodell's just enforcing the owner's wishes. If your job requires you to wear a UNIFORM, you can't change it because you don't like it.

According to ESPN, Brown has faced nearly $50,000 in fines for excessive touchdown celebrations and uniform violations this season. The league is only going to put up with so much before they drop the hammer.

That's fine, but when petty little things like this start to hurt the bottom line I think they will reconsider.

So no pictures on your shoes.
But Eddie Lacy can use all the pink tape he wants to wrap his legs up?

    See tonight's game.

He didn't give a crap about nothing! Ironically, we would probably all kill to have Pete back as the commish instead of the clown we have now.

My employer is the Federal Government. If you want to see some absolutely ridiculous policies, work for the Canadian Federal government. With that said, I have no choice but to follow those petty rules. Either that or I can always find another job. It doesn't really matter how stupid the policies are or what I think of them, by choosing to remain employed there, I have to follow the rules.

I'm not sure why some on here think the NFL is any different. The team owners set the direction of the league via the commissioner. If they don't like what Goodell does, they'll voice their displeasure or remove him. Until that happens, Brown should try following the rules so the attention of the league isn't on us all the time. Quite frankly, I'm getting sick of it. Yes, it's just cleats, but he knows the rules and has decided he doesn't need to follow them like everyone else does.

What's next, vote for trump on his shoes?
Pretty simple, the NFL doesn't want players advertising their personal opinions or beliefs on their uniform.
He got permission from the NFL to put an Arnold Palmer tribute on the shoes last week right?
With the personalities of some of these players there is no telling what type of controversial message they'll write on their uniforms.

While I do not agree with the whole dress code violations that Anton Brown does not care for.. there is something far greater that should concern not just a newer generation of Steelers fans.. but NFL fans as well...

    http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/teetering-on-the-edge-of-draconian.15194/

Mike Tainer of Bleacherreport explains this much better in his latest Monday Morning digest..

"Once upon a time, there was a sport called "boxing." It was one of the most popular sports in America. But boxing was afraid that television would dilute the value of its most exciting fights. So the lords of boxing purposely scheduled bouts late at night on the East Coast, restricted access to highlights so even the nightly news could only show photographs of knockout blows and limited television exposure to expensive closed-circuit or pay-per-view events.

For a while, all was well: Ali would fight Joe Frazier, the newspaper provided the result and Howard Cosell narrated the highlights a week or two later on Wide World of Sports. But satellite television made viewers demand live sports and steady highlights, so a whole generation (mine) grew up rarely watching boxing while touchdowns and slam dunks filled our afternoons.

Fast-forward a few decades, and boxing's American audience is a tiny fraction of what it once was, even as similar sports like UFC have enjoyed growth in popularity.

There is an entire generation of sports fans growing up right now that a) turns to social networking to see highlight clips the way we once went to cable networks; b) buys footwear to represent their favorite teams or players; and c) generally thinks end-zone celebrations are fun, not a sign of the downfall of civilization.

The NFL is actually getting more fuddy-duddy about its product, even as the old folks it's probably trying to cater to by making sure we aren't exposed to any flagrant twerking age out of the demographic that advertisers really want. Television ratings have dipped, yet the NFL is going out of its way to limit easy outreach and engagement to younger fans.

There is nothing wrong with limiting celebrations, cleats and GIFs. Unless you want to turn out like boxing. Presumably, the NFL doesn't want that. Loosen up, guys."

The two bolded points concern me most for two reasons..

1.) We know live on an age where social media marketing is essential to increase growth of one's product and to expand ones brand

2.) Nevermind the ratings dip... the reason the NFL has not enjoyed ratings success is not because of the election.. nor is it due to the nature of stars like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady not playing. The reason is that many of the quality of the games... flat out suck. Heck... look at the world champion Broncos who some thought could still win against a high powered Falcons offense. If I am a child who has an interest in football... I do not care to see beatdown after beatdown. I care to see close nail biting games. Outside of a few... we really have not seen all that much at all.

At the end of the day though.. there is a dress code.. and Antonio has to follow it; us being fans having disgruntled opinions being non factors. I just wish the NFL would just...

    Stop.

    Limiting.

    Itself...

I know what he's saying about boxing but honestly I don't ever seen the NFL become that obscure. It is definitely true though that when a league loses its true superstar that it is gonna suffer. The NBA was arguably a better product than the NFL during the Jordan era because the level of competition was awesome. These days though I can't even hardly watch the NBA because it's either just a bunch of thugs or a bunch of players whose names I can't even pronounce. Football is just so "American" at its very core and I think that's why it has so much appeal. If it loses that, sorta the way baseball did, then I could see it becoming much less popular.
