Indeed. Big Ben is great... but I would not put him among the elite of the NFL.

If anything... seldom is the word "elite" used properly anymore.

You are are a word smith and I am certainly not. But, as you say, the word "elite" is not being used properly, or at least consistently, in this regard.

Apoplectic means very indignant (i.e. more emotion used in duscussion.)

For example: Boomer was apoplectic when Vontez Burfict played dirty against the Steelers.

Another definition is very excited and angry.

The issue right now is...Ben has too many weapons to be struggling like this...elite is not being used incorrectly...how many games do you think Brady, P. Manning, Rodgers, Bree's, and probably a handful of other qb's would win with our offense?

when the line isn't helping, you lose your long time TE, the best RB in the league, one of the better young wr's and big fast target, it sure as heck makes a difference in your play. there i said it. :smiley1: kidding defva.

all of this makes a huge difference in how the defense covers AB and Dwill. it takes time to get used to these new faces in the offense as far as timing and even what they are capable of. it's still an 11 man offense.

you guys seem to think the machine works the same when you just plug another player into it but it doesn't. heath did so much for ben to be able to be elite it's not funny. it's not just ben either, he helped our tackles and you change those little things that became second nature and it makes a huge difference. say what you want about the weapons ben still has but all these little changes make a huge difference.

The reality is that most teams have a stud WR and then a bunch of decent guys on the rest of the roster. There's not a lot of teams that have a Roddy White and Julio Jones duo (when Roddy was a good player). We still have arguably the top WR and top RB in the league. Most teams would kill to have what we have. What we need to get away from is these big plodding TE's like James. He's not any good. The position has changed and without a TE that can stretch the field, defences will capitalize on that. Green will help when healthy, but Ben simply needs to play better. Our other WR's are no worse than most other teams #2 and #3 WR's, but Ben has been playing like crap, that's the difference

Ok you had me right up until James was a big plodding TE. David Johnson is a big plodding TE, James seems more like Graham only not coming into his own quite yet.

Come on, James is nothing like Jimmy Graham. James is quite slow and isn't very athletic. In fact, those were specifically listed as his weaknesses when he was coming out.
