JJ is the #1 reason Harrison hasn't retired. He's a rotational player. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but at more like 2-3 million. That's what you pay rotational edge players who are at their worst when rushing the passer (the most important trait for an edge player).

No I can't see the Steelers doing this. The production is just not there, This is why you need
to draft OLB/edge rusher this year.

Some people didn't want to let him leave because they didn't see the writing on the wall. He was nothing more than a fast body catching wr and they were enamored with his speed. I'm sorry you're just wrong about mendenhall. He really was a very good running back. Our offensive line was that bad. The notion that it's Arians fault is laughable. The qb gets hit a month after he throws a pass and a bunch of steeler fans sit there going derp derp derp Arians is getting another qb killed derp. If you're going to blame the oc for injuries keep in mind he has missed more games in a season due to injury under Haley than he did under Arians.

Not in the 1st round. But yes a tweener prospect with a high motor which Jones does not have.

Personally he does not impress me. His handful of plays is not enough to justify the 5th year. He always seems to be just standing there after the play is done. Let him play it out and see where the chips may fall. Lets hand him a 5th year option for subpar play like they handed Cortez Allen bank. No thanks. Maybe he will have a chip on his shoulder and play lights out if they don't exercise the option. Personally I believe we have seen the best of him. If the brass had faith in Jones I'm sure they wouldn't be wishing James Harrison will come back for his swan song.

Well Andrew Luck was the most sacked qb in the league under BA. Then he moves on to AZ and makes it to the playoffs on his 4TH qb. I'm pretty sure the Rooney's see it the same way. I know that he's missed more time under Haley but Haley's system absolutely has him getting the ball out faster. If Mendy was so good then why did he not tear it up when he left here? Potential and production are two different things. I absolutely believe Mendy had potential. I just don't think he had the drive to reach it. The Steelers must have felt the same way. I'm glad it worked out the way it did though because it probably led to us getting Le'Veon and he actually does seem to have all the fire to get it done.

Mendy was disgruntled, thats what led to him being gone, wasn't his skill set.

He is a top 5 guard and in case you all missed it the steelers picked up his 5th year option:

    Rotoworld:
Steelers exercised RG David DeCastro's fifth-year team option for 2016.
It's worth $8.07 million. DeCastro has started 31 games over the last two seasons and played every snap in 2014, ranking 18th among 78 qualifying guards in PFF's grades. He's the second member of the 2012 first-round draft class to get his option picked up, following Chargers OLB Melvin Ingram.Thu, Apr 9, 2015 12:55:00 PM

    Pointafter:

David DeCastro is the seventh ranked Madden 15 Right Guard based on his Overall Rating (85), putting him in the top 20% of Right Guards.

    • If DeCastro is CPU-controlled, he will react more quickly to blocking lanes thanks to his highAwareness (77), but if he's user-controlled this stat isn't going to matter.
    • DeCastro does a better job Blocking for Run plays (93) over Pass plays (78), with both Blocking stats being above average for Right Guards.
    • With a higher than average Impact Block rating (87), he's going to be knocking people down in the open field more often.

Try again. Even if luck was sacked the most in the NFL he was a rookie. Also luck played a full season while Ben only played in 13 games. You keep on trying, but don't forget we won the whole kit and kaboodle under Arians and have managed to win one playoff game under Haley. :lolol:

I think our great, close to legendary, defense of '08 had alot to do with that.

While it has yet to yield a championship, I'm pretty happy with the Haley offense over the past 3 years.

I want wins. I couldn't care less about how many yards we pass for. It is the same thing with our pass defense. People whine about how many yards our defense gave up ,but ignore the important statistic ( we were 10th or 11th in points).

I know I'm making excuses, but I think last year's team was a legitimate superbowl contender. Ben getting hurt derailed us earlier on. Injuries to bell and D Will did us in.

After being bailed out by the d over and over. That is correct. I just don't understand why the Rooney's would let BA go if he was the reason we were winning championships. Do you think our line would have been better regardless of the OC if Munch had been here during that time? I love Haley's system but I readily admit that it's certainly helpful to have Munch around and really think he's an unsung hero on this staff right now.

Dude it's a freaking team sport. You're argument is as tired as Tebow beat us. No, the denver freaking broncos beat us. No, Munchak can only do so much. We have better players across the OL.

I too,am tired of the Steeler haters throwing that Tebow crap in my face. We had no Mendenhall, Ben on one leg, Troy on one leg; O-line devastated by injuries and we still not only showed up but should have won that game. Fluke Tebow; that's why he's in the teleprompt room now instead of the football field.

It wasn't Tebow. It was Clark being out and the numskull playing safety who bit on each and every play action or run by Tebow. That's what caused us to loose the game. Numskull was cut almost immediately after the game.

Safety play did hurt, but the D was prepped by the coach to stack the box and never did adjust. The game plan was to let tebow beat them with his arm and well, he did.

Agree. It was the guy who got signed be the Giants... So memorable of a player, that I can't even remember his name... Anyway, it was 1st down, and he was clearly tasked with run-first responsibility on that play.

I would actually argue we beat ourselves by letting Ben play on one foot in SF after getting hurt in the Cleveland game. He went in to that game totally hobbled. I know it's a team sport but to say that defense wasn't our selling point during BA's time here is beyond absurd. If I'm not mistaken, I think the year we beat AZ we were like 17th in offense but our defense was the best across the board. If we would have had Haley's great ball control offense with that defense we would still be building trophy cases in the burgh. I would almost even say that our offense as it stands right now when it's at full strength is as good as our defense was when we were winning our last couple of Super Bowls.

I don't think there's any chance the Steelers pick up JJ's fifth-year option. It is highly unlikely he'd get $8 million a year anywhere else either. I think we stand a fair shot of signing him to a Moats-type deal after this season.

Jj will be a bottom barrell re-sign for us. Nobody wants him but us. And even that could change if we draft a olb and he shows something in camp.

I belive you are right, I think that is why Colbert was aggressive with trades this past season... I think normally he would have been a bit more conservative.

Just think if we would have stayed healthy.... we most likely would have gotten home field advantage... who knows what could have happened then?
