Would the Steelers be crazy to do this?

I know we need help in the secondary now, but for long term good of the team this might be the way to go?

I don't think it's crazy at all. It's probably a really likely scenario. Drafting a rookie to start at SS could be dicey, so getting a FA starter will be a better option IMO. We never seem to draft corners early, so this year might not be different. Besides, tying yourself to a certain position in the draft can be really risky. Drafting for need isn't always a great scenario. We can fix our secondary up without drafting a S or CB in the first round.

Most of the top defenses have multiple good pass rushing options. We don't have any top options currently. We hope Dupree can pan out, but it will take a while. Drafting another guy early will help us out a ton. Can never have too many good pass rushers.

If the better talent is at OLB in the first rather than SS then you take him with hesitation.

Looks like we don't have the talent at the position this D relies on yet so it is a distinct possibility but I'm not sure there is enough depth at the position coming out of the draft to be picked 25th unless someone falls....

A definite possibility and I would look for that 3-4/4-3 DE tweener.

If Noah Spence slides to #25 take him, Jarvis is probably in his last season with the team.

Don't care as long as they draft defence.

Would prefer CB/S but DL depth is an issue as well.

I'd take either Clemson outside rusher, Shaq Lawson/Kevin Dodd...

Also Leonard Floyd from Georgia has crazy quickness off the edge, he might be my favorite.

We need better pass defense. It either comes from the DBs or the rush. Wherever the BPA is.

I hope the Steelers are vetting players properly. Spence is a real possibility.
Whoops maybe I already answered my question, Martavious Bryant. Lets not
    trust the Steelers vetting process.

With the TE signing, this has now creeped up to a very good chance the Steelers will be
making edge/olb a very high priority.

I will admit that if you have a crappy secondary, one of the best ways to help it is to have a monster pass rush.

I really hope we don't go this route. We've been drafting OLBs, and LB's for that matter, the past couple of drafts. I'd almost would rather get the BPA at either SS, CB, or NT/NG.

I doubt we'll ever have another Tyler Boyd come through the program. Kid was just that special. We got a 5* Sr in Lamont Wade that's being recruited by about everybody but after Wade I'm really unsure what's down the pipeline.

Agreed. And that guy for me is Ogbah. You can line him up all over the place. Dude is a beast. He's becoming one of my favorite players in the draft.
