I have a huge amount of respect for Manning's career accomplishments but in this case DWill is spot on. Manning was just horrible last season and it was evident that he was done. Enough slobbering on him and tell it like it is. DWill had it right.

Ha Ha, I thought this was funny, I knew this was coming after seeing some of his tweets! Surprised Tomlin didn't message personally though....

I thought the same thing... Now what will he tweet Bell with his what will be presumed stomping of woman's day video.

It's a bunch of crap all the way around, but why? Everyone knew Peyton was finished but was just good enough to manage an O with a superior D. And Bell with his rhetoric accomplishes nothing in the same spirit.

Shaddup both of you what's the point?

I thought Dwill's comments make him look small and reflects poorly on the Steelers.

Peyton had an outstanding career, whats the point in trying to pooh pooh the day of his retirement? Sour grapes because you lost to him?

Everyone knows this wasn't Peytons finest season, thanks captain obvious.

I didn't read the article linked in this thread but did read another one Blast where DWill who was in Egypt most of the week said several of the tweets were taken out of a larger conversation he was having about Peyton's year and how statistically it was crap, visually it was crap and anyone claiming it was great didn't know what they were talking about. He didn't in any way try to diminish Manning's accomplishment but he wasn't sugar coating his play. Lets be realistic this wasn't Bettis coming off the bench against the Bears in his final season to run over Urlacher and show why the Bus was the Bus in the swirling snow. This was more like Peyton just hang on and let this defense carry the load and don't do anything stupid. Even at that they had to squeak by a wounded Steelers team to advance and then let that defense smack Brady around(thing of beauty) Peyton can hangs his hat on plenty of stuff but last season he was done.

Manning and Brady got a lot of help from over protective Refs who made there stats much better than there actual skills, hard to praise a2 qbs that should have worn skirts. Very hard to criticize D Will after not making the championship based on two non-called pass int.in the endzone and a non-call on Mannings giving himself -up and still allowed to throw a crucial pass! On a level playing field he doesnot match Ben or Terry. Without extra protection he would of been retired ten years ago .

He was benched for 63 days this season. People around here acted like this season was some magical thing where he saved the day. This year he was Dilfer. He's still one of the all time greats but I really don't know that his career will ever be honestly assessed. At least not anytime soon. If people think this last year makes up for all the one and dones and chokes he had accumulated I disagree but they have a right to think what they want. Some people look at him as a 2 time winner. I look at him as a two time loser. The answer is he is both but really both of his rings were actually won on defensive performances in the post season and the Super Bowl specifically.

When I saw those tweets by DWill, I was embarrassed as a Steeler fan. To have them come from a guy who is supposed to be a "pillar of the community" type of player made it even worse. Why say that stuff at his time of retirement? The guy was calling it quits after one of the best careers in NFL history, and you feel compelled to point out that he wasn't the same guy in his last season? What was he thinking? The argument that it may have been taken out of context holds no water with me. In the universe of Twitter and other social media, responsible people understand that whatever they put out there can be chopped up and spread to the larger media universe to make them look like idiots. Whether he was right or not about Peyton's last season is completely irrelevant.

In my view, the real :poopy: here is DWill's decision to pick this week as the time to jump on Manning for his physical ability tailing off last season.

I liked the response because it seems that the Steelers always have at least one player spouting off online going back to Mendenhall and Clark. It's just not necessary.

We are in a "PC" world where everyone skirts away from the truth. That's the problem in the world right now.

With that said, I'd prefer for Dwill to just keep quiet. But when the truth is called upon, there is nothing wrong in telling the truth.

I'd like for Tomlin to be quiet and figure out a way of stop being John Harbaugh's *itch everytime they play. That's what I need Tomlin to do.

As usual since it was manning they made a big production out of his retirement, and peyton never misses a chance to enjoy the limelight, dont forget all those years peyton played with the colts was in a very soft afc south division, I say good riddence to the limelight boy, and tomlin has no right to call one of his own players out via twitter, thats out of line.....

Right, because Peyton is the only player to have a press conference at his retirement.

Glad Tomlin gave him a public spanking, he deserved it.

People down here are always talking about how Brady is in a crappy division and all that but never seem to mention that Manning wasn't exactly in a division of world beaters for the majority of his career either.

Ben played lights out in the playoffs and scored a td in the Super Bowl and made a tackle that saved our season. Which, btw, should have never even happened if the league hadn't cheated on national tv to try and help Peyton. Ben had a bad rating in the Super Bowl that year. The worst ever actually. But overall without Ben we don't get that 5th trophy and I would take 05 Ben over 2015 Peyton any day.

And without Peyton coming off the bench to lead Denver past SD, they don't get home field advantage and more than likely lose at Foxborough.

Which tickles me to no end that he beat Tom Tom again and bounced him from the playoffs :lolol:
