Tate just joined the team so barely knew the offense and Todman and Toussaint knew it I suppose but they got no reps. Either way you slice it 2 playoffs in a row and no running back prepared to run the ball.

JT and FT both got carries in regular season games and practice. They both knew the offense. Both ran the ball very well in the playoffs. Those are facts. Your argument doesn't hold up.
Your fumble logic is beyond wrong.

Now could one of the mods please shut this troll down? Please.

How am I a troll? Because I have an opinion and I don't let your guys gang tactics sway my opinion? I'm obviously a Steelers fan. Pittsburgh everything. Sorry, I disagree with you.

I'm not going to shut anyone down...yet. As a side note, if you think a post is legitimately abusive or otherwise needing moderator action, please use the report feature...

As a general rule of thumb, if multiple people are throwing that label at you, it probably wouldn't hurt to do a little introspection. I hate threads getting derailed with off topic 'so and so is a troll' banter. Since it's being discussed...while I don't think you are a troll, you certainly exude some trollish behavior. From wikipedia:

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement.

I hear ya. I just don't understand how anybody's opinion on the internet could make somebody upset. A lot of people disagree with me and make jokes about it and it doesn't effect me in the slightest. I guess because the gang mentality didn't change my opinion and I'm still willing to discuss the matter makes people upset. Nobody was calling me a troll when I first brought the issue up but since my opinion hasn't change, I'm now a troll.

It's not your opinion. You are entitled to it. It's more the constant reminding people of it as though it somehow proves that we would have won if Tomlin had listened to you. It's like the scenes in Groundhog Day where the insurance salesman keeps coming up to Bill Murray and at first he's friendly but somewhat annoyed by the guy. Then he's just annoyed by the guy. Then he just punches the guy. Then he just weirdly hugs the guy and walks on. Then he winds up buying a policy from the guy. So maybe your strategy is to just wear us all down to where we will just buy what you're saying and then you will shut up about it? Ok. Fine. You win. If Tomlin would have signed Steven Jackson we would have won the game. We would have won the Super Bowl. We would even win it next year. Ok everybody. I have ended Groundhog Day so you can all now thank me. LOL!

I'm not bothered by other people's opinions either. They're just words. :smiley1:
Ahh. I doubt it has much to do with your opinion, but more about the trollish nature of how you repeatedly post it. Aside from all the fumble/Steven Jackson stuff, I think you'd be considered a valuable member.

I wouldn't say it's about trolling, more about the stuck record on this particular point. That's when it stops being a discussion.

Otherwise, it's good having you around.

Being willing to discuss an opinion and beating a drum 24/7 are not the same thing, and that's the point. It didn't bug me, but it obviously grated on some nerves when it went on and on and on. At some point you've got to just move on and agree to disagree (especially since you're wrong;)). To your credit, you've taken the fire well, and with good humor.

First stop the attempts to seem like a victim you have been shouting at the rain for well over a month or more so to suddenly try to turtle on the fact that you are enjoying stirring the pot is just weak sauce. There is no gang tactics what several people have done is try to engage you in discussion about your "opinion" while others have simply observed from the sideline and offered the occasional BURN! Since I am the one who actually said it today I will answer for the troll comment. I think I have built a reputation on the board for being fairly even tempered, willing to discuss all points of view, really willing to discuss and have an in depth point counter point discussion about topics I am passionate about for example last off-season I had a lengthy debate with a newer board member not unlike yourself named Llyoddestroys about his opinion that it was DL's man crush on Troy and his constantly putting him out on the field when he was passed his prime that was the single biggest reason for the problems on the defensive side of the ball which ironically I think has been proven to be false but I pointed out several other reasons for the decline of the defense. It was a spirited debate and a lot of fun, had he made his case with some actual evidence I was more than happy to concede the point and let him know he was right unfortunately he wasn't able to and we left off the debate with an agree to disagree. I am not so puffed up that I won't admit when I am wrong and congratulate a well reasoned argument.

You sir have not established your argument beyond what I would equate to a five year old going "no I'm right :p" and then running away with the ball. There have been several posters that have shown facts, real facts as opposed to your opinions and you either fail to answer them, turtle, or change tacts. I myself have written a well reasoned counter argument to your opinion the went unanswered. I find that your premise had some validity pre Wild-card game and was with you on it due in large fact to the Ben Tate debacle from the year previous however the showing by both Toussaint and Todman in some of the most adverse conditions imaginable showed they were more than capable of handling the responsibilities. Others have made that clear as well to which you change tact and claim that the time to have signed a back-up was week 9 went Bell was lost which again was answered by many then you turtled talking about the fumble and having a vet again your points are met and counter points given and at no point do you offer anything substantial in the way of proof that your opinions are facts but you perpetuate the cycle of challenge, backpedal, turtle, change tact, lunge and challenge. At this point the only logical conclusion a reasonable person can draw is that you are trying to gain entertainment by seeing people grind their gears a belief which maybe be in my case further driven home by the fact if I remember correctly of you constantly complaining about how empty the stadium is during the game day thread. I'm sorry I don't care how empty the seats look there is a football game on and I don't hold stock in the Steelers so how many tickets they are selling and if fans chose to stand on the walkways instead of their seats doesn't matter to me. So yeah I am calling troll.

I will take the consequences of my actions but if you would like to prove me wrong bring the debate. Come up with a solid premise that you can defend with more than "I'm right and you are wrong" and debate your opinion based on its merits and I will happily eat my words until then sorry I'm not sorry.

Here I will start with my "opinion" I believe that the way to win football games is to play tough defense and have a power run game. I know that there are other ways to win games but my preference is to play tough hard hitting defense and have a punishing time consuming grind it out ground attack. Utilize the pass when necessary but just pound the rock until the other defense tires and you can enforce your will on them. It's not sexy, its not flashy or today's NFL but give me a 21-10 struggle and I am a happy camper. That is my opinion and I can defend it or I can concede to other opinions

I love Troy so I hate to say this/break it to you but the defense played better without him last year. Whether that's because Mitchell was use to a more traditional SS that doesn't free lance or what. The fact DL and Troy were both gone the next season solidifies it. I'd have to say you were wrong and Llyoddestorys was right.

the defense as a whole played better under Butler this year, more aggressive more engagement by the DL and improved play of the front seven. The secondary was horrid and would have been horrid regardless of Troy and DL being gone. Llyoddestorys argument was always the number one problem was DL and his man crush Troy creating problems for the defense. There were many other factors to it but he saw only what he wanted to see. Remove DL and Troy and pass defense regressed so no he wasn't right add to that the tackling issues in the secondary and you have big problems. It was never as simple as change one player and coach and things are better.

But dude don't you know that Lebeau just woke up one day and became a scrub bum??? All the talk about him being a legend and one of the greatest defensive minds was all just a ruse. I mean the guy had world beaters like Cortez Allen, Will Allen, Antwon Blake, Mike Mitchell, and an aging Troy and Beard but he STILL couldn't get it done! It's obvious the whole thing about him being great was all a big joke. Now that he's gone we've seen our secondary become the 31st best in the league. If only he had stayed maybe we could have gotten there quicker!

Don't feel bad for missing the old ground and pound. I miss it too. Although I do feel like we've struck more of a balance of it in recent years as opposed to the almost abandonment of it during the BA years. Did you see BA's Football Life when he said that a fan yelled for him to "GET A FULLBACK!" and he laughed and said "NEVER!"?
