Looking back over the season I think that these 2 players should have been used a lot more than they were. Most of the time they were inactive for the likes of Spaeth and Wheaton. Hind sight is 20/20 but I think these 2 players are going to be rising stars for the Steelers. I hope to see more playing time from them in the 2016 season. Spaeth didn't attribute much this year but was probably in there mostly for blocking assignments. Wheaton seems to be hit or miss when he plays. Not very dependable if you will.

It is time for the future and these two guys need to be it.

Spaeth is getting old and injury prone. Not room anymore for a TE that doesn't catch and is basically a 6th lineman. He is a good blocker but with Munch as the OL coach and a better O-line, he's not needed as much anymore

The Outlaw and Sammie C will see the field more in 2016

I think they both showed really well yesterday. My understanding was that they liked Spaeth's blocking in the run game better than the Outlaw, but that's something they can coach up. The kid will only get stronger and stronger in an NFL weight training program. He's clearly better than Spaeth right now as a receiver. Looks like he is gonna be a steal in the fifth round.

Wheaton has another year under a mill. He stays.
Brown, Bryant, Wheaton and Coates. Not to shabby.

Yep, and I hope we keep DHB as our 5th WR for his great play on special teams.

Berry had a really bad game at the worst possible time but if you look at the punt from the endzone that only went 27 yards he was lucky to get that off at all. That ball had some wicked movement on it coming from the long snapper.

Yes seemed like the wind was whipped up when we had the ball but not when they did. (sorry just wanted to see how an excuse like AJ's would sound :hehehe:)

Wheaton is signed for next season, he won't be a free agent to the 2017 season.

It does look like the future is bright at those positions. It would have been nice if we had gave those guys a bit more playing time during the season to get them more prepared for that kind of situation.

It also means maybe they can concentrate on certain positions in the draft with spots like that in good shape. More D please.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of Wheaton. (He's not that good & I keep calling him Will & Will Wheaton gets on my nerves.) Even we don't get rid of him, we need to get guys like Jones & James more involved next season. Tomlin says, "This is the ultimate team game" but we only use the same 3 guys. If Coates & James would've played more during the regular season, maybe we would've been able to depend on them more when we needed them. This has happened two years in a row now. You just can't bring guys who haven't played much into big games & expect them to perform without any mistakes.

Man, sounds like I'm the only one who likes Wheaton. He's made many tough catches in traffic.

Coats will likely be Bryant's replacement, as we won't likely be able to keep Bryant if we plan on keeping Bell and Brown. Wheaton might want too much too, but I would keep him at anything less than 4-5 mil a year. Bryant will probably demand 10+ and Brown close to 15+.

I don't quit know why one catch by James, who the defense clearly didn't care if he was covered or not, makes people think he is this Godsend. We don't use and shouldn't use TEs a lot because all five of our receivers are better revivers and playmakers than our TEs not named Miller. Perhaps the occasional misdirection or look to a TE to catch the defense off guard, but anyone who thinks that Jesse James is going to be this hero of a playmaker for us is delusional.

Wheaton is an essential part of the team. He is very tough, has better hands than Bryant, and is fast. He is best in the slot though.

Wheaton will sail off into the sunset as Manny Sanders did catch his 75 balls/yr and make
a very comfortable living in the NFL for the next 5-6 years. Kevin Colbert can evaluate
the wr position. We will just keep drafting them.

We need a top Cb, I don't think Wheaton will stay for cheap so we should trade him.Dhb might get a offer from another Team as well ,I think he might be a good Wr 3 at the right place.,I hope he stays though..

Here is my deal with DHB. If we bring him back....great. If not....just as well. Look the top 4 I think are set. Coates will pass him and get the helmet regularly next year. My thought is, we go out and get a guy who can actually field and return punts either at WR and let DHB go, or at DB who can also contribute in coverage, maybe at the expense of say Ventrone. I think we saw on Sunday...yeah, coverage is important, but returns....just as important.

Lol, that's like looking at a Rolls Royce and saying "it's ok....".

My question is, with those 4 wideouts, and Bell back 100%, would you go to a run and shoot/ west coast offense hybrid where your base formation is 4 wideouts? Hm........

No offense, CK, just you would be hard pressed to find a better 4 receiver combo in the history of the NFL, if the 3 younger guys reach their potential.

I think we will do everything in our power to replace AB at PRs especially after the concussion....look for Eli Rogers to bump DHB off the team next year.....sorry PWP.

I kept saying week in and week out...that Sammie Coates could've taken over the KR and PR job....so he could get some game time experience. I would've let dhb go and replace him with Coates.
As for Jessie "bang bang" James...he is a great receiving te ..who once he get his blocking skills down ....will be a great replacement for Miller
    Both are keepers
