Honestly, other than coaching style, the difference between Cowher and Tomlin is minimal.

Their coaching success/failure have followed the same basic patterns. We got to 8-8 those years despite going through a rebuilding period. While it took us a while, we have gotten the OLine fixed. The same will happen with the other flaws and we will have a really good year soon.

In fact, when I look at next year...not outside the Eastern Time Zone for any travel....hopefully health, plus an additional draft year/FA period to fix some holes and evaluate talent, I see next year 12-4 at the worst, maybe 13-3. This team, if they can remain healthy, will easily fix some of the issues from this year and take a jump. I truly believe this.

The only way the defense performed better than expected is if you expected them to be ranked 32. LOL! I respect your opinion though and I'm in no way on the "FMTI" wagon. I just think the team has some holes and regardless and if WE even thought the d was gonna be crappy then what did Tomlin and Colbert think about them? Do you believe Blake should be resigned? Also if Boykin was gonna play such a limited role do you think it was good business to give up a pick for him? If Tomlin ok'd that then I think it was a horrible decision by him and if Colbert was behind it then I think it was a horrible decision by him.

I've been critical of Tomlin and I've always tried to support those criticisms with facts, but I've never outright called for his firing. He's very frustrating at times but when I survey the NFL and college landscape, I don't see too many coaches that I'd resoundingly support replacing him with. At times I'd like to have more of a tactician and game strategist at the helm, but Tomlin does deserve some credit for 10-6 and in the playoffs after all of the injuries and adversity this season.

I was pissed at the defense last week, as well as the rest of the team but the D really has improved. Its just the secondary that still sucks. I think we hit 50 sacks this year, up from 33 last season and turnovers were up.

They need to fix the secondary once and for all.

They just need to get off the dang field and quit giving up long and sustained drives. However IF the offense can actually build a lead while the d is still getting it together then we will be in good shape. A lead helps this d tremendously.

Tomlin is a DB coach. If he can't put his stamp on that group and have that be a team strength then what is he bringing to the table?

IMO Tomlin has talked a LOT about "all three phases" while it seems all of the team's focus has been on the offense.

This is the second week in a row that the Steelers badly lost the possession battle to scrub teams with scrub QBs. The philosophy of "TOP means nothing Ben's drives have to score points through the air!" is resulting in a ton of opportunities for the other teams offense.

Here is a list of the possessions from the first half of today's game:

    2 minute drive - fumble
    4 minute drive - TD
    1 play drive. - INT
4 minute drive - FG miss
    1.5 minute drive - punt
1 minute drive TD (great in a 2 minute drill so no problems there but Cleveland did have time to get a FG)

Pittsburgh will put up points but the other team will get a LOT of possessions as well. D is on the field for stretches to be sure.

I'm not hating. This team has to stick with the philosophy that got us to the playoffs. Point is this...

It is a chicken and egg question: Are the Steelers a passing team because of the personnel or do the Steelers have this personnel because they chose to be a passing team?

Was the evolution from a running to passing team natural or forced? Is it the best fit for the Steelers?

The D must hate their 2 minute breaks between drives lol.

i see us lacking three coaches to help turn things around. carnell lake and joey porter, olsavsky. MT's best position coaching moves were adding richard mann and munchak and saxson. it made our offense turn the corner and become much better. good veteran leadership and coaching that has been proven. i don't see that in lake and porter/osavsky for our defense.

the wr's have flourished. the o-line has played very well even with the absence of two starters and the rb's have also become the better group in the league. i think we are only lacking this at two spots. LB'ers and DB's before we become a top notch overall stud of a team. i'm thinking it's not all players being busts but coaching in these area's only taking us so far. these are our weak links. i'm not trying to pick on these three but that know how of a vet coach means so much in development. being a good head coach means surrounding yourself with a great staff. just my 2 cents.
