so does he play this week - final game of the year? it's so odd you hear about zero the status of someone known as one of the best centers in football who supposedly is coming back this year. normally when a star player is out and coming back before year end you would get updates on the status.

does tomlin get asked this question?....if so does he just tomlin speak his way out of an answer?

well tomlin doesn't live in his fears and he owns that. he'll face the adversity and try to generate splash plays and not worry about style points. obviously.

I would not play him. Get him fully healthy for next year.

Sick of all of his injuries, let him get healthy and trade him for picks to rebuild the secondary. They proved they can win without him.

Pouncey's dead cap is 11.6 million.

    He isn't going anywhere.

The Steelers cannot reasonably move Pouncey until 2018 (well, I suppose they could in 2017 and save a meager $2M). He agreed to restructure his contract last offseason, deferring base salary into pro-rated bonus money over this year and next; bonus money does not transfer with a trade and impacts the team immediately, just as if the player is cut or released.

The problem in 2017/2018, from a trade perspective, is they are the latter years when the player typically draws the highest base salary - for Pouncey this means jumping from $3.5M to $7.5M and $7m, respectively. Naturally, this would impact his potential trade return.

I think the best case scenario for the Steelers is that he return healthy and productive for a lengthy stretch starting next year. The restructured contract he now has makes it rather cap costly to move or release him.

Be careful. I said the same thing about Woodley and his big cap hit.

What's Pouncy going to do for us at this time. We have more important problems than Wallace., maybe we can trade Pouncy for secondary help.

    Exactly!!!!

Some of the Pouncey talk on here at times is unreal.

Too often injuryed..... Is it soft tissue injurys due to a lack of conditioning or are they results of contact. How is it his fault when he's rolled up on.

Wallace can replace him just fine..... Nope!!! Wallace is servicable, better than Legs and T-Rex ( Mahan ) for sure but Pouncey is Pro-Bowler for a reason. At the end of the 1st half Jernigan destroyed Wallace sacking Ben for a key play. Also Wallace Leads the team in sacks allowed ( 6 ) and NO Interior OL should lead a team in this stat.

Pouncey is too expensive....... Nope, his money is calculated and fit into the budget. When Healthy he's worth every penny.

Pouncey is strong at the point of attack, Mobile enough to be a perfect fit for a OZBS Munchak runs here and position flexible to move IF necessary. He was rolled up on from behind, broke his ankle ( fibula) had surgery..... had complications in healing and required a 2nd surgery mid Oct. Let him heal completely, rehab and return when the time is right for him and us.

I would play Pouncey if he is cleared. If he is healthy he is healthy.

You're right that Wallace is overrated and shouldn't be giving up sacks. Pouncey gave up 0 last year I believe. People love his nastiness and allow that as a substitute for performance I guess.

It would be great to be able to keep Wallace for depth though.

    yeah right
why would people clamor for Ben to go if healthy but Pouncey doesn't have to do a dang thing if cleared
    I mean
we have a must win game coming up
so put the best player(vomit) out there

So what, he's dead money every year he goes on IR because he gets his full salary, figure it out how much dead money he has already cost this team, it's way more than 11.6 mill already....

Hope he can play but not holding my breath. Looking forward to having depth at OL next year with AV, Wallace and a healthy Pouncey and a healthy Beachum (assuming he gets an extension).

Let him come back next year, and see if he can stay healthy. As always
when resigning players to contracts you better not be OVERPAYING people that can't produce.

If a team wanted to ship us some draft picks, I would ship him off.
I don't think the level of play with Wallace in there to Pouncey was that bad.

He just has bad luck staying healthy. He has basically missed 2 out of last 3 complete seasons.

Has Pouncey even practiced? I haven't heard that he has. And if he isn't oracticing now, I can't image him playing even if they get in the playoffs.

I doubt he has the game conditioning at this point, wasn't like we was able to go running to keep his cardio up this whole time.

Exactly, some people still think he can step right in at the last game and just start playing. So why even talk about Pouncy at this point especially the way we just played.
