    Indiana-Duke bowl game

Great game btw. Wanted to see S Jeremy Cash for Duke again, but he had surgery earlier in December and did not play. (Wrist or hand I believe).

Keyed mostly on LT Jason Spriggs from Indiana. 6'6" 305. Reported by draft sites to be very athletic. Yesterday's game verified this for me. Not a mauler by any stretch, and his punch wasn't that impressive but guys couldn't get around him either. His movement skills were very good. Mirrored well and picked up cross blitzes without a hitch. There was one sack late in the game, where a LB or DB came off the side untouched. Spriggs was engaged with the DL so not sure if he was responsible. A very good prospect imo, his strength can easily be worked on at the next level, but his fluidity was evident and having that already in his repertoire is an advantage. He would be a nice addition to our tackle depth where we are getting really thin. Esp. if Beachum leaves via FA.

I didn't see the punch this guy writes about, but I only watched the one game. I'll have to check out some others if I can.

Were you thinking Demetrious Cox or Darian Hicks?

CBS Sports (Dane Brugler) now has Desmond King mocked to us in the 1st round. Haven't seen any film of his, but he has good listed size at 5'11", 200 lbs. Maybe I can catch the Iowa bowl game.

Their other draft guy, Rob Rang, has us taking Leonard Floyd, an undersized edge rusher from Georgia. No thanks.

Not the Big 10, but wanted to follow up on an earlier post about Houston ILB Elandon Roberts. In advance of the Houston-Fla. State bowl game today, I watched the Houston-Temple AAC Championship game from 12/5.

Houston ILB Elandon Roberts 6' 235. SR. Lined up on the strong side. On the first series, he pressured the QB into throwing an INT. On the second series, he forced a fumble by stripping the WR of the ball on a gang tackle. Definitely the QB of the defense, consistently lining up players and communicating. Blitzed frequently and had a lot of QB pressures. Most of them were him breaking thru the line uncontested. Good timing and could find holes in the line, but I did not see any 1 on 1s to see how he handled them. OK in pass coverage, good recognition but maybe limited athletically in that regards. Undersized and probably better suited to a 4-3. Got put on his keester by an off. lineman going to the 2nd level. He definitely has a nose for the ball and was definitely trusted by the coaching staff for a 1st year starter. Seems to be a late rounder/UDFA who could be a special teams staple.

Houston LB Steven Taylor 6'1" 225 JR. Forms a nice tandem with Roberts. More athletic and uses his hands to fend off blockers a little better than Roberts. Flies to the ball but needs some improvement on his pass drops. Led the AAC with 8 sacks. Had a big stop on 4th down to end a drive with 2 mins left in the game. Should return for his senior year imo.

Houston CB William Jackson III 6'2" 195. SR. Great build, long arms. A ton of pass break ups this game as the Owls seemed to want to target him. He usually lined up on Robby Anderson, who was Temple's best WR. Kept his eyes in the backfield and did a good job locating the ball after it was thrown. He was beat on a double move by Anderson for a long gain to start the 3rd, but came back on the next play and ripped the ball out of the WRs hands at the goal line. It was a nice break up on a sure catch. Ball awareness was a strength and he had the athleticism to react. Competitive and did not shy away from the attention. Very good looking prospect who would be a nice 2nd rounder for the Steelers.

Temple WR Robby Anderson 6'3" 190 SR. Hands catcher, no double catches that I saw. Fumbled on the first drive (ball ripped out by Roberts). Made up for it and was Temple's best skill player. Caught the ball going inside and along the sidelines. Not a burner but good speed. Did not see how he blocked. Jumbled background, quit football for a year then came back as a walk on as a Junior. Former DB. Could develop into a nice WR4.

Husker roundup since I saw all their games this year...

    Seniors
WR Jamal Turner 6'1" 190. Nothing crazy here
CB Jonathan Rose 6'1" 195. Huskers had a bad secondary this year.
CB Byerson Cockrell 6' 185. No relation to Ross. Showed some flashes here and there.
RB Imani Cross 6'1 240. Big bruising RB for short yardage blitz pick up.
FB Andy Janovich 6'1" 230. Dude's a beast. My favorite player this year but very, very seldomly used unfortunately. Peyton Hillis body type. Would be a great addition imo for STs, and fullback if they decide to move on from Will J. With Nix coming on, I don't see it very likely, but the guy will play his heart out. Love those types of players. Would have to be a UDFA guy.
OL Alex Lewis is playing in the Shrine game, but doesn't offer much. Plus he said some dumb things to the fans and probably not the type of player you need.

    Juniors
DT Maliek Collins 6'2" 300 Penetrator with some first round grades. I can't believe the Steelers would look at a DL in the first. Good fit for a 4-3 base.
DT Vincent Valentine 6'3" 320. I believe he has entered the draft. Shows some good things and I would not mind seeing him drafted depending on their plans for McClendon. Not sure what round evaluation he got, just have a lot of hesitations getting someone like him except in the later rounds.

Honestly not a great senior class as a lot of their impact players are juniors or below. Janovich would be a nice pick up for me, but not sure if the Steelers would go in that direction.
