For all the shows you never got around to, ignored, thought were dumb, etc, until they were at (or near) the end of their run, when you binge-watched your way through several years' worth of seasons in a matter of a week or two.

For me, the top spot would be Breaking Bad. Always meant to tune in during its early seasons after all I'd heard, though admittedly didn't know if it sounded all that good. Finally watched the pilot as the show was airing its last few episodes, and didn't see much of anything along television or internet air waves for the next two weeks. Great series.

Second would be Sons of Anarchy. This I thought sounded pretty cool, just never got around to watching it. About a week ago I noticed the entire collection is free with Amazon Prime, of which I'm a member. Fired it up, and just hit Season Three.

Other notable shows I've never seen:

    Mad Men
    The Wire
    The Sorpranos
    House of Cards

    Yours?

I liked SOA at first, but somewhere around season 4 or 5 it jumped the shark. The finale, ugh the finale.
House of Cards is great_ I binge watch that every time a new season is released.
Northern Exposure- A funny, quirky show

I'm only 3 episodes into The Man in the High Castle, but really enjoying it so far.
    The Sopranos- Great show
The Wire- I actually know people that were in it and involved with it, but have never seen an episode.

If anyone hasn't seen The Americans on FX, it's a great show. I really like The Walking Dead, but The Americans is my favorite TV show. The new season starts in March, 2016, so there's lots of time for you to get caught up. So, so good!

I had heard good things about it, but a buddy of mine gave it a blah review once so I forgot about looking it up. Given that we don't often agree on TV/movie/novel fare I don't know why I didn't question it sooner. :thumbs__down:

Dude WATCH MAD MEN! I can not stress it enough! WATCH MAD MEN! As far as ones I've never seen, I've never watched Twin Peaks and people rave about it but I've only seen like the first episode of it.

Finished Breaking Bad a few weeks back, dunno why I never watched it when it was on. Another excellent show (dunno if you can stream or not) was The Shield. I loved that show, and the finale was awesome.
On my list of stuff to watch after I get through the Star Trek series(s) is Dexter and True Blood

This is kinda funny cause about 2 years ago I had surgery on my foot and I was pretty much couch ridden for 2 straight weeks and was out of work for 5 months. So I needed a series to watch and a buddy said try Sons of Anarchy and man was that great. It ended up being my favorite, and at the same time I also got into the Walking Dead. Hard to believe I never watched these two but I didn't and I love both. My buddy also said try Breakin Bad so that would be one I want to see cause I haven't watched that yet. I also haven't watched Dexter, Mad Men and the Americans.

A bit more old school - but I never watched an episode of MASH, Newhart or Cheers when the whole world watched them religiously. Picked up Cheers on reruns years later but the other two didn't seem to make the 7pm nightly reruns after the fact. While not necessarily a great show, was interested in Alcatraz a few years ago on Fox but it was cancelled after Year 1 and we never got to see how all the criminals got tele-transported into the future to continue on their crime sprees. The recreation of the Bullitt chase scene through the streets and hills of San Francisco was epic. Do enjoy some of the PBS Mystery Theatre shows like White Chapel and Inspector Lewis which are less brutal and sans special effects but a bit more cerebral than many of the cable shows mentioned. Looking forward to Better Call Saul's season 2.

I never watched Twin Peaks, but from what everyone has told me, it's exactly the kind of thing I would love.

My sister also always recommends Dexter, but my wife and I haven't watched it.

One show I hadn't seen that we started watching because of my brother was Arrested Development. The humor was awesome, but it got a little more raunchy than we like in the 3rd season. The 4th season made by Netflix was terrible, though.

Just how violent, particularly rape, is SOA? It's not good for my wife. I read good reviews, but I need to filter.

Fairly violent. Mostly men against men.

One major rape scene (implied. Not explicit) in I think season 2.

Rare violence against women, but it's rare, and most usually, not of a sexual or domestic nature. (the worst violence against a woman in the show comes at the hands of another woman)

Yeah Arrested Development was good early but it just never had that element that "hooked" me. I've heard tons of people talk about House of Cards and I am a die hard political junkie and am even trying to volunteer to help on a presidential campaign this year but I just can't watch it because of how raunchy they say it is. I've heard it is really hardcore. The subject matter is something I would really enjoy though as far as just the political stuff.

Since I'm currently binging myself into Season 3 of the show I can vouch for the rape incident - it is implied, and at the beginning of season 2 (within the first few episodes). Thus far I can say all the other info regarding the violence is on point as well.

The decision actually was between it and SoA recently - I'll probably be trying it next. Thought you'd grill me on whether I'd tuned in to the full TMNT library. ;)

I actually still need to watch True Blood's final season. The show was kind of waning for me toward it's end, which is probably why I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Dexter is a strange one for me - given its plot I would think I'd be into it, but I tried watching the first season once and wasn't pulled in (though I love Deb's character). Maybe I'll give it another try one of these days - plenty of friends have recommended it.

I binge watched Weeds (showtime) last week and I must say, it was a pretty fun series to watch. First couple episodes were OK, then it took off.

    Breaking Bad.

Finally watched it on Netfilx over the summer, 1-2 episodes usually each Friday and Saturday night. Loved every minute of it.

I just started a new series on Netflix documenting WWII in full color. It has about 6 episodes and I finished the first this past weekend. It's called Apocalypse: The Second World War. The color footage is fascinating, and a good reminder of some important history.

Coupling seasons 1-3 the BBC version, the american one is ok but they did a poor job translating it to mid 90's america viewership and it didn't last.

Breaking Bad was a great show.

Justified was one that I never watched and binged during the final season. I really liked it.

I still haven't watched the Wire or Breaking Bad. Hopefully this summer.

Also Rescue Me and The Shield, which friends have raved about. Not as sure I'll ever get around to those.

I remember watching the entire first season of Vikings in 2 nights. Was almost a single night. The second season was starting in 2 weeks. It was highly praised, so I figured I'd watch the first episode to see if I liked it. Then I decided to watch another... and by the time I knew it, I had watched 7 episodes in a single sitting! (Yeah.. it's that good)

Agreed on Justified. Started watching it for Timothy Olyphant (LOVED Deadwood). Stayed for Walton Goggins.

Bingeable shows for anyone looking (with warnings for those looking to avoid certain material):

Deadwood - strong language, graphic violence, nudity, violence against women. Still a great show. It's like Shakespeare wrote a western. Features Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Powers Booth, and Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead) among a great ensemble cast.

Rome - Nudity, strong sexual content, adult language, graphic violence. Visually stunning. Amazing acting. Only 2 seasons, but it plays like a 22 hour (give or take) mini-series. Features Kevin McKidd, James Purefoy, Ray Stevenson (Black Sail's Blackbeard), and quite a few Game of Thrones actors: Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand), Ciaran Hinds (Mance Rayder / Julius Caesar), Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully / Brutus). Begins with the Senate demanding Julius Caesar disband his army and return to Rome and goes up to Caesar Augustus becoming Emperor. (of course, it includes the big stories: Ides of March, Cleopatra, etc)

Game of Thrones - warnings? Uh... all of them. ;) Highly bingeable and a great story if you're ok with pretty much every form of brutality you can think of. (And having your heart ripped out.. over and over)

Black Sails - it's on Starz. If that's not warning enough... :lolol: Gritty, realistic pirates. Serves as a prequel to Treasure Island (about 15-20 years prior). A mix of some characters you know from TI, and some historical pirates. Not 100% historically accurate, but intense and gritty.

Band of Brothers - war combat, violence, brief nudity. The best 10 hours of TV ever made, IMHO. If you haven't yet watched this, why not???

One more with no major warnings...

Farscape: Just pure fun. Sci-fi. Campy at times. But a wild ride of a space opera. Taken off the air before it finished, but at least given a mini-series (The Peacekeeper Wars) to wrap it all up.

Another short one to watch if you like SciFi is Firefly, and then the movie Serenity. It's a shame that the show didn't last, as it was really good.
And this might make me sound kind of lame, but Veronica Mars was pretty good to me too. It's not a show I would normally like, but it had real, likeable characters in it. A friend of mine told me about it and I watched it, not expecting much. But it got me hooked.

I absolutely love Firefly/Serenity. I watched it was it was originally on, and just recently went through the whole series and movie again with my wife. Good stuff.
