Archer was one of the top returners in the league (yards per return) when they cut him...and is easily a better returner than Jones at this point

Cut Jones and use the other players on the roster to fill his position guys like AB, Wheaton, Todman. I don't want Archer back he's a bust.

 

Brown for punts - kick offs down every ball in the end zone. I'll take starting at the 20 with our offense

 

when you say 25 yard average return....this likely means getting the ball 8 yards deep and returning it to the 17 yard line. we started so many inside our 20 with Archer returning the ball.

 

He's just trying too hard to make big plays. Needs to focus on the basics, the rest will come. He's a playmaker, just needs to secure ball before going the next step, again.

 

Jones is a veteran that knows better. Especially playing for the Ravens

Wasted roster spot as is Archer. I expect Jones to be cut today.

 

I am sure we have seen the last of Jones on this team now the question is has any of our wr's ever returned punts or kick offs? How about our rb's.....db's......safety's......equipment manager......"get back" guy.........fan in the front row????????

Problem is.....He wasn't returning punts when he was on the Steelers! All he did was Kick-offs!

Why not try Coates back there? Gives you a returner and a 5th WR!

Cut him, sign a practice squad player to 53 man roster. Dress Sammie Coates. Have Wheaton or Heyward Bey do the return duties for kickoffs along with Todman/Trussiant.

And let's not forget - he's not doing ANYTHING right now so that number will stay the same. Seems impressive, but if he were still returning KO's for us, I'm sure it would have gone down by now.

 

@ "get back" guy, I vote for him!

Cut Jones (obviously), keep AB at PR (even if he just FC every time, we need his reliability), and use Todman as the KR with Murphy brought up to take Jones' spot (assuming that they want to keep their WR depth). If Todman remains inactive on gameday then put Wheaton back there, or whatever RB is backing up Deangelo.

 

+1 on trying Coates for returns. We don't need to be wasting roster spots for guys that only return kicks or punts. Archer should have never even made this team in he first place.
