[IMG] Sooooo frustrating as I'm sure he is that this young man cannot stay healthy and play !!

He debuted with us last year I believe with tremendous appeal and skill at the linebacker position... the marking of a young Troy Palamalu but in the linebacker role.... this guy was supposed to fill some pretty big voids in our D that we are now truly missing....... unfortunately missed most of last year with an injury and yep..... looks like he'll miss a big chunk of this season as well.... The games that Ryan played in ( 2) this season, I believe it was game 2 before he got injured was remarkable.... he was the stone in our D that entire game as predicted when drafted 1rst a year ago.

I'm really hoping and praying that this young man can pull himself out of the " STEELERS INJURY JINX " that seems to affect us every couple years it seems, and be back where he for such a short time, left off... I look at the progress report every week leading up to each game Sunday and keep thinking we'll see his name in the PROBABLE OR WILL PLAY category but no go as of yet..... damn .....c'mon man, get healthy, stay healthy and get back to where you know you belong SHAZIER.... at the top !

If he is able to come back next weekend against Cincinnati, it would be HUGE !!

No mistaking.... BEN WOULD BE A BIGGER GAIN !

GO STEELERS... LETS BREAK SOME CARDINAL RULES THIS WEEKEND ....

    ( STEELERS CANADA !! )

I cannot express in strong enough terms how frustrating this is. Some guys are iron men (Timmons, Harrison, Porter, Lambert) and others like Shazier and to an extent, Troy, always seem to be dinged. Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful that Shazier can get healthy and if he is a guy that is constantly hurt, I hope his career is aligned more closely with Troy's than somebody like Kendrell Bell who started out like gangbusters but just couldn't stay healthy.

We got KC next week then Cincy. I would bet they are both back next week and absolutely by the cincy game. No need to rush Shazier back and take a chance of him screwing it up long term with the way Spencer and Williams have been playing. It is frustrating but with someone that has the talent he has it is better to take a cautious approach. I would suspect he is going to try and put another 10 pounds or so on this off season. I would bet we would have seen these same type of injuries with Timmons if he started his first two year in the league as he was about the same size as Shazier then.

Wasn't Timmons a starter by his second season? And I know he got significant playing time his rookie season and may have started at some point so I'm not sure that argument holds water. Timmons is an iron man who has never missed significant time with injuries. Unfortunately, Shazier is not.

I'm always a bit hesitant to call guys injury prone this early in their career - Troy picked them up from the way he played; sometimes guys get freak injuries because football is a contact sport; sometimes guys just don't prep right and can't get fully healthy. I don't know too much about the nature of Shazier's injuries to date, but still too early to say.

The good news is, we've still got Spence, and he's an adequate replacement at the moment.

Hopefully Shazier can overcome injuries the way Spence appears to have. I mean Spence is not perfect by any stretch and I'm sure Shazier has way more upside but I just hope Shazier can get over this hump the way Spence appears to have done. Both really had freak injuries. It's not like Shazier is nagged by a hammy or something like that.

Really we should just ask Al Gore to shut down the whole internet so it will quit hurting Shazier's feelings. LOL.

I could be wrong about the second but I know Foote started and got the majority of the playing time in Timmons first year. I thought Foote started Timmons second year and then left and went to Detroit only to return when Farrior retired. I could be wrong though. I thought it took Timmons a couple of seasons to get ILB down.

I may be wrong but I thought he started his second season. Maybe TTF can get his crack research team right on that, lol.

I was thinking Foote got hurt somewhere along the way in his second season and then he started and played well which is why Foote left because he knew he would no longer be the starter. Looking at his stats those two years he had 13 tackles his rookie year and then 68 his second year. Now Woodley got a bunch of playing time his rookie year and started his entire second year.

Timmons did take some extra time to move to a starting position due to the switch from OLB ot ILB. He did not become a regular starter until his third season, when he started 13 of 14 games played. He played in every game his first two seasons, but only started in two - both in his second.

Also Woodley was much more versed in the 3-4 as well was he not? Timmons had been a 4-3 guy hadn't he? Seems like my buddy that's a big FSU fan said they're a 4-3 program.

Yeah Timmons did play in the nickel at first for sure. One thing about Timmons to me is does he really have a high football iq? Hasn't he still never been able to call the signals and Vince Williams has in his second year?
