so lying here sick in bed, and I decided that if the Steelers do not make the Super Bowl, I am alright with that. I think about this organization, and the injuries we are fighting through this year, and a defense that was supposed to finish around 30th, and if they do, I am alright with that. I see the success the Patriots have had with their Cleveland cast-off coach and what they did to get that success, and I say let them have it. I would rather back an organization that was upright and steadfast than pay what that organization did for success.
I see our young kids, kids not even 25, doing the same dumb things some of us have done and others of us have not. And I am alright with that. Part of maturity is learning from your mistakes.
I see people on here who hate Michael Vick for what he did, and others on here think every man deserves a second chance, and whichever group you land in, I am alright with that. Because at the end of the day, these are the Steelers, and we are their fans.

Do you have the Flu or a concussion?

Anything less than a SB win is considered a failure to me.

Wow....lol...I understand what was said in the original thread. It seems that we have so much to overcome before we even play our opponents...but ,you should know ...that the steelers are built that way. We adapt, overcome, and excel above expectations. We do need to put together some wins before Ben is able to get back

Anything less than a SB is disappointing but not a failure. Winning the SB is more than who is better, so many things have to fall into place to win it all.

So glad I dont look at it as SB or bust. Last year they gave me 11 happy Sundays, I'm thankful for that.

When the Steelers lost to the underdog Tim Tebow in the playoffs on a single missed coverage. I considered that season where we didn't make nor win the SB a true failure because had they prepared better they could have went on a won it.

Losing the SB to Aaron Rodgers on a play where a completely missed block against Clay Mathews, arguably their best defensive player causing the fumble from Mendenhall and losing the SB was also a failure to me. Although they were behind in that game they definitely had the momentum at that point in the contest. Less of a failure cause it was against a favored team but a failure none the less for not accomplishing the ultimate goal.

Losing to the Dallas Cowboys in SBXXX was huge failure in that all we needed to win it was a QB who had the 2nd best completion percentage in the history of the game, to just not screw it up and blatantly throw 2 Ints to same mediocre player on the opposing team.

Great accomplishments come and go in life but when you set out an ultimate goal and then don't finalize it then end result is the failure to complete that goal.

This may seem harsh to some, or even most people but playing second fiddle to something that you work so hard for ultimately sucks. I certainly hope the Pirates have that mentality tomorrow night cause going against the best pitcher in the league they will have to have that mind set or after the game almost all of those players will consider this great season of theirs a FAILURE.

Sorry, I don't like to sugarcoat things.

GO PIRATES! GO STEELERS! GO PENS!

Your examples point to exactly was I was talking about on how difficult it is to win it all. An injury, a great play, a poor game by a QB.

Im not judging you, Im just saying Im glad I dont share your view.

Sure we've had disappointments with our beloved Pittsburgh sports teams, but man o' man, when they win it all, it's so totally worth it. And we do have bragging rights when it comes to Lombardi trophies, so I'm good. :)

I wouldn't become a Patriot's fan for anything. You can't look at any win they have had without asking yourself what soul they had to sell to win the game. I'll take my Steelers any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

Perhaps failure is too stringent of a word but I will bet that most teams individual players share that feeling in the immediate moment following their loss of achieving the ultimate goal. With time it turns to disappointment.

It would be a disappointment if they don't make it to the playoffs. This now lies in the hands of Vick's play and shoring up the run defense.

The Steelers cheating in every single game ever would have been preferable to bringing in Michael Vick even for a day.

Actually I am quite happy. The person laying in bed sick is probably miserable. Hope they feel better soon and become more optimistic for this barely played out season so far.

After a game like the last one (and the bleak outlook until Ben gets back), I have to constantly remind myself that I am 41 years old and my beloved Steelers have played in 15 AFC championships during my lifetime. That's one trip every 2.73 seasons I've been alive. I'm alright with that

I can usually impersonate a zen master, but I'm having a hard time finding my inner peace this season. I tip my hat to some of you.

Don`t give up hope. I think we have some very good raw talent on defense. Right now they do not play smart often, but they are learning and we are starting to see some flashes. This is a very big IF, but IF the defense gels like I think it will, we are in a sweet spot to contend for Super Bowl starting this year up until Ben gets old.
