    That song was playing in 1969. This story is for BFT. There I was, in a house of il-repute in the Republic of Vietnam. The door opened and my buddy said MP's are here. The girl I was with hit the wall running and the board flew up and she was gone. I hit the wall running and bounced off the wall. I heard the MP's coming my way. My buddy jumped on the bamboo bed and threw a poncho liner over himself. I hid behind the door. Door opens, I was on the wrong side eye to eye with the MP. He said I got one. He looks at the lump on the bed and says this your girl. Yep, figured they wouldn't take civilians and my buddy could get me out of jail tomorrow and my unit would never know. MP smacks my buddy on the ass and says come on sweetheart you too. Sergeant Williams (fake name) peaks out of the poncho liner looking sleepy? MP looks at him, then me. I gave him the dumb sh*t rolled eyes shrug! they threw us in the back of the truck and two days later our LT came and got us out. LT said if I didn't need you guys to run Mortar FDC's (fire direction centers) I woulda left you both there. I also got charged with carrying ammo! I had one .45 round in my shirt pocket. LT messing with me 2 days b-4 handed me a .45 round and I said ok I'll be Barney Fife stuck it in my pocket. Keep in mind I had my .45 pistol with me. Did not get charged with carrying a weapon. (in a combat zone I may add.)
    Any Marines know this. When you get office hours, Article 15 for you Army guys. You are not eligible for promotion for 6 months. My punishment for this side trip was an $80 fine. The money was never taken from me and I was promoted to Sergeant two weeks later. Guess the LT liked us after all. Sergeant Williams was fined $120. They never took his money either
