Jarvis did do a couple of things that went unnoticed. Some of those multiple Attacker outside blitzes he made the Ravens take him and forced his man into the guy next to him allowing Spence and Allen to get to Flacco. Other times he was getting pushed out of the hole though.

Here is the thing for me did giving up 150 yards rushing really matter? There were gashes to be sure and first down runs on first down but did it lead to extended drives or TDs? I mean don't get me wrong it did look bad but did it hurt?

You think Thomas is here next year?

I think it did big time. Our secondary actually played a lot better but they couldn't compensate for the front missing tackles and getting owned on blocks.

Yeah but even after being gashes for a 30 yard run on first down the defense would stiffen and hold.so while it did allow them to move downfield at times and maybe into field goal range but it wasn't like watching AP run all over the place on us a couple years ago. It would have been nice to shut him down but I don't think giving up 150 to Forsett was the dagger to the heart.

Well if you think about that stat under Lebeau of where we went an incredible stretch without giving up a 100yd rusher and won all those games I'd say that means it's pretty bad. What's sad though is the rats almost gave up just as many rushing yards and they won.... Go figure...

That was one of the things that used to drive me nuts under DL caring too much about not giving up 100 yards to a rb. Give up.360 yards passing and 3 TDS but hey didn't allow a hundred yard rusher.

He just wanted to make teams one dimensional and then allow backers to tee off and secondary guys to jump routes. We sure used to get a lot more turnovers. I was glad to see the sacks last night but they are small consolation.

You are an adamant McClendon supporter, and I am not sure why. If/when he is healthy on the field, he rarely if ever sees double blockers and almost never penetrates the pocket. If he gets a pass for the poor run defense then it is either the scheme or players like Hewyard, Tuitt, Timmons, Harrison, Jones, Spence, Dupree. For the exception of perhaps Jones and Dupree (who you will probably give a pass to as well), then who gets the blame? We would likely both agree that Cam Thomas gets blame when he is in (although I could see you giving him a pass as well).

How many 'good' teams have we played? I count one, NE, who have pretty much destroyed anything in their path so far.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. You can give up a hundred yards of rushing to several Backes and still not make them one deminsional and you can give up 100 yards rushing to one guy and totally render their running game ineffective in terms of how it affects the game.

I'm not really an adamant supporter as you put it. I call him out when he makes a bad play. I just watch coaches film and like facts. You have many posts that lay the blame on him, and I get it. A lot of fans jump to conclusions. Hampton was the nose, we were stout against the run. He left, and we gave up big runs which never seemed to happen. Obviously it's the nose.

Some people decide a guy is good or bad and shape everything around that. I get it. Last night was a perfect example of that. We gave up big runs and you started a thread laying much of the blame on McLendon when he wasn't even on the field when the defense was giving up big runs. I'm not sure why you'd say I'd give Thomas a pass as I straight up said he was a big part of the problem.

They gave up more than 150 yards on the ground. That was just one guy. One mediocre guy. Yes it hurt.

I'll be honest, this is just a guess, but I doubt McLendon was even on the field for half of those rushing yards we have up.

I'd be willing to bet you're right. Most of the times I saw big gains Thomas was in the game. Thomas has no push whatsoever. I'm still trying to figure out how he's on this team. I think if McCullers wasn't injured the Steelers hold the Ravens to under 100 rushing yards. He's so big he just demands a double team. Hell, I'd rather try putting Villanueva in at NT over Thomas. He can't be any worse, can he?

Heck I'm pretty sure I saw that Allen carry Thomas for at least a yard on one of his carries in the fourth before Harrison hit him and stopped him before 1st down. Just before that 4th and 1 stop of Flacco

Forsett had 1266 yards on 5.4 YPC last year and he is mediocre? If he was a Steeler you'd say Probowler.

Bigbunch with all respect please tell me how it was Vick fault and MT fault. I blame this one on that kicker that need to be gone. My reason for not blaming MV. he pass for one score and gave good block for second. He carried out OC plan and did not fumble or get hurt. As for MT yes bell should have gotten football, but the defense did there job and offense gain enough yards for a pro kicker to make just one field goal. If you watch the game if one field goal was made, the lack of trust in kicker would be a moot point. If you watch nfl HQ no one blame MV or MT.

Heh, yeah those are pretty impressive numbers. Honestly, I didn't know he did quite that well last year. So far this season he's been unimpressive. I assumed much of his success was attributed to Kubiak.

Forsett has 4 seasons with a 5 ypc average. Under the radar because he isn't the ideal 6'1 230 running back (of which very few are successful).

I saw Dupree wide open for a couple tackles last night but couldn't quite get it. He was in the right spot but had that moment of hesitation until he recognized what was going on. That small hesitation let the ball carrier get by. But this was a knock of his coming out and should be expected. I'm glad he is playing now because when the reads come, he can really boost this run defense I think.

I would like to see the snap counts as he seemed to be in there more than Moats. He is getting some great experience right now.

Doesn't matter. You still lose the battle of field position by longer drives, especially if you have a QB that is not gonna be able to throw his way down the field to score or a least get the field position back.

Just cause they didn't score on those drives, they most likely had prime field position the next time. Our punter didn't help either last night.

I saw him in there at some pretty critical times too. Coaching staff seems comfortable with him in there.

Hes such an athletic freak you have to have him out there, he's learning quickly. I loved the draft pick, this is what I was hoping for.
