Is our defense as bad as we say?

    Pretty solid performance today - no TDs, good red zone stops. Against a team that beat Seattle? They don't seem to look good or consistent on individual plays, but they seem to be getting the job done. Could they be gelling?

    It definitely has shown some improvement these last two weeks, although some of that probably has to do with the competition. Neither the 49ers nor the Rams are exactly the Pats when it comes to offensive production

    It's never as bad as we fans think or as good.lol
    Today was a great and surprising effort. Some young guys really stepped up.

    They looked good the last 2 weeks. But I'll keep the level of competition in mind while saying that.

    Throw that 34 point performance in week one against Seattle out the window. It's an outlier. The Rams have a very pedestrian offense.

    Their defense, OTOH, or at least their front 7 is outrageous.

    They're young and improving. The back end is limited in upside, so they'll never be stellar. However, our front 7 can be very strong, and may be borderline dominant later in the season. If the back end can just get to average, the defense can be a top 10-12 overall defense.

    It's way better with Shazier than without, but we have pretty solid backup ILBs.

    I'm staying cautiously optimistic. They've looked better the last 2 weeks than I expected, especially without have Shazier today.

    I feel they are getting better, but really lets face it they were pretty bad last year and the way they started the season just made things worse. I am liking what I have seen the last 2 weeks and hope it keeps going.....

    It's a young group building a nucleolus and developing game experience together. It'll get better, maybe not this year but progress will be made and will be fine.

    The D won the game today. If you'd told me the offense would only score 12 points and Ben would be knocked out of the game, I'd have stamped this one with the big L.

    What's funny is as dismal as the D was against the pats, they played well enough to allow the O to out score the cheaters on paper... Problem is the missed fgs and the out of bounds to reception.

    I never thought the defense was as bad as people say. I saw a D that showed improvement over the course of last season and I expect that to continue. A few of us have said all along that the offense was a year ahead of the defense.

    By next season they will be very good on both sides of the ball. I think they have some real talented players on the defensive side. It's a real shame about Golson because I think hed have made a big difference in the secondary next year, now thats going to be his rookie season and who knows if Grant will pan out. Was counting on both of them but I think Boykin was a good pick up, Gay is still solid, Will Allen reliable, Shark needs to poop or get off the pot but they are going to have to make a good FA signing regardless in the offseason and of course, be the focus of the draft....again.

    Where in the crap IS Boykin? He played a little on ST today but that's the only time I saw him. Tuitt is the brightest spot to me. Man I like him a lot.

    I guess if we're not calling his name that's maybe not a bad thing for a corner. I didn't know if he got any defensive snaps today or not.
