    Somebody help me out here.
Pacman Jones rips a players helmet off then immediately slams the back of his head against the helmet as it is resting on the ground yet there is no suspension.

Now how long would JH be out of the game for? 6, maybe 8 weeks or even out of the game altogether?

Roger Gooddell needs to go! These punishments or lack there of make absolutely no sense to me.

Plus, isn't Adam a repeat offender as well?

The need to come up with a independent panel. Maybe it is half NFLPA and Half NFL Front Office, and then someone independent person as the tie breaker?

I thought the same thing when I saw that. Beyond unacceptable. That wasn't some violent tackle, that was a deliberate attempt to bring bodily harm on another player after the play.

And if Gooddell suspends him, he appeals to a judge and Gooddell gets overruled again. In the case of on field issues so save time, fine the players and let e'm play! Off the field issues should just get turned over to local authorities and let the players go through the justice system.

I guess what you are saying that after the Tom Brady mishandling that there will be no more imposed suspensions in the NFL by Roger. Players now know that anything goes in the NFL and therefore will not be hesitant to levitate their own form of justice and then deal with only the fines by appeal processes as Pacman is doing in regards to the 35K one that he received.

That's what I'm saying. Like him or not ( and I don't) the players agreed to the collective bargaining agreement giving him the authority to dole out punishment. He was over ruled by the court in the Rice and Brady case. Players now know they only need to appeal suspensions through the courts so don't bother with suspension. Fine them to high heaven since all they understand is money. The next time they get busted for drugs, domestic violence, speeding, bar room brawls, subject them to that same court system normal people go through.

Goodell said the other day that he thinks they are gonna have to implement more suspensions because fines don't matter. If they want fines to matter they should raise them up in to the realm of where it's money that matters to these guys. Thousands don't matter to millionaires but millions do. If the PA wants to protect the players in the literal sense they will get on board with very tough measures. There's no place for slamming heads in to helmets.

Goodell is out of control it is time he is stripped of his absolute power over players they need a board to oversee fines and suspensions

Goodell = empty suit after thd emasculation he suffered from trying to reign in his favorite team. Although, I don't for one second believe he ever wanted to suspend The Golden Boy.

Simple as this, if they're not charged, then Forget it. If they violate policy... Then Go that route. That's how it works in most of the real world at times.

If a guy can't pass/maintain passing a piss test then fire him period!

If a guy is accused of off the field issues and is charged then deal with the judicial system. If he is not charged, then stay out of it.

If a guy is video taped pulling stunts and the proof is there, regardless of being judicially charged or not... Walk him off the plank. Depending on the seriousness of course.

    I don't know, motorcross?

Think he just means being caught on tape breaking rules/laws.

At the minimum if you have a felony on your record and have served real time in prison you shouldn't be in the NFL.

I know I would lose my job and finding a job would be much more difficult after serving time. NFL players should be held to the same standard, they already get to play a sport for millions (that we as fans pay for). Basically they already had their shot and basically won a lotto.

IMO it's a slap in the face for us regular folk who pay their (NFL players) paychecks.

Supply and demand. Athletes have a talent and skill set that they can exploit more than average folk.

Seems simple to me. Every player in the NFL will be under a micrscope and penalties will be determined by throwing darts at the penalty dartboard.
Tom Brady can do whatever he wants.

For all on the field situations, they need a system more in lines with Hockey. Like it or not, that system is much more structured and they explain each suspension.

I'd also add that while hockey does take into account previous behavior for more serious infractions they aren't the norm. If you have a history of slew footing players that typically doesn't get considered when you check a guy in the back and he goes into the boards. I was actually glad to hear Goodell suggesting that he stop being the one to make these rulings and have a set committee to look at them.
