From what I read the judge made no ruling on the evidence. It was all procedure. The NFL handling of the case was judged not to have given Brady a fair shake (no access to Well's notes and one of the editors of the Wells report), there isn't anything in there about the evidence in the Wells report.

Right. So why then the double standard?

You want an evidence level of proof for criminal cases, but allow the "defendant" to skirt said proof by destroying evidence?

This whole process has a dead skunk level of stink all over it.

The NFL will appeal according to Goodell.

Hopefully it gets overturned upon appeal. In late November.

Irony: n A state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.

Example: The Patriots and NFLPA winning an appeal against Roger Goodell so that Tom Brady can play week one, where he gets his leg broken by James Harrison.

(not that anyone getting their leg broken would be amusing of course) :)

Bryant should immediately appeal his suspension for not being given a fair shake. I mean he didn't know he could blame the equipment guys for tampering with his vapor smoker

Who are we kidding... the moral of the story is that they will continue to deflate balls and just keep hiring new ball boys. Won them a SB last year that way.

Well. If I Was Martavis Bryant, my lawyers would be whipping up appeals based on chain of custody for the urine sample, asking for the test results of calibrations on all testing equipment, all personnel who handled said samples qualifications, etc.All my legal expertise comes from watching Law and Order btw.

What a crock of crap! I'm livid over this decision. The remainder of the NFL teams should just cheat, make a mockery of the game and the League, and be able to get away with it without suspension, as well.

I hope and pray for field justice now. Brady's head better be on a swivel when he, in fact, does return. Gawd, I hate that twat!

    I'll laugh my ass off.

Never saw a complete reduction coming, figured 2 games. I just have this to say to the judge:

    :goodellsucks:

This jackhole has been the single biggest accessory to the Patriot's cheating ways since day one. And now he "bungles" this one.

Look, there's a ton more evidence, both direct and circumstantial, that Brady cheated than there ever was against Ben. And now the story has spun into this being an unwarranted witch hunt.

Hey kids, if you're ever caught, destroy any evidence you can and then claim "but they have no direct evidence against me."

And considering Goodell's comfy relationship over the years to the Patriots and Kraft, I'm of the mind that this was set up from the get go. Be incompetent in your investigation. Pretend to come down hard on them. Appear to be a firebrand protecting the league... when we all know your real version of "protect the shield" is to cover up anything that gives the league a black eye. I guess Brady learned from the best about destroying evidence, eh, Roger?

It would not surprise me at all if at this very moment, Goodell and Kraft are tag teaming Ben Affleck's "nanny" on Tom Brady's private jet and laughing at how they yet again pulled the wool over everyone's eyes.

Hey, Tom, how many times have you and the Patriots gotten away with cheating now?

Based on past history, Ben being out of the news is a good thing.

I'm not a fan of either Goodell or Brady, so I'm indifferent to whether or not either one won or lost. There are only 2 positive things I can see possibly resulting from this:

1- the league ends up changing the 'process' by which a player's wrong-doing is evaluated and punishment is levied out.

2- the Steelers beat the living crap out of them next week even with Brady back and two of our starters out !
