Steelers Sign Cam Heyward To 6 Year Extension

I was thinking today that this deal seemed really team friendly as well. Not that it was unfair to Cam by any stretch. But just that it seems like a cap friendly number.

 

Fair enough and wasn't making a straight comparison. Was just curious if teams had sufficient leverage to do that under the CBA

 

Yes with 13 of those sacks coming in the year and a half he has been the full time starter. Only 1 3-4 DE for the Steelers has put up more sacks in a single season then Heyward's 7.5 and that would be the great Aaron Smith with 8. Heyward's is a beast and in today's NFL with the salary cap sky rocketing year to year this will be a team friendly deal in about 2 years.

 

It seems that Heyward's work ethic is far superior to Woodley's, which is what cut Woodley's career short with the Steelers. The combination of weight gain and chronic hamstring injuries, probably from not being in the best of shape did him in. I don't see that in Heyward at all.

And as far as his sack total, that is only a part of what Heyward does well. He is awesome at being disruptive in the run game and is an all around player. Well worth the money IMO.

 

I will accept your response as true, and admit cam's upside is value at his position for a fair price, I wish him nothing but success in the future.....

I'll take Cam over Craig any day. We've got Le'Veon Bell and losing Cam on defense would be devastating.

 

I like Cam he plays with a attitude, the Steelers defense needs more of that.
