Impressive. I thought my 7 plates was impressive, although that was 5+ years ago. I don't lift heavy anymore, too risky.

JH has always been a beast

I hope I'm in that shape when I'm 37. I lift and go to the gym 6 days a week religiously and JH amazes me with what he can do. I'm always showing the other guys his posts. Insanely strong.

To be honest. This is not such a great feat. When I was into heavy lifting. I have done 16 45lbs plates 3 reps on the press and 3 reps on the hack squat. In the same workout. My legs were dead the next day but I did do it. Many times. I was a huge leg guy. In the day. What can I say?

You did 720 LBS. Silverback is doing 1080 lbs. Not sure what age you were doing 33% less than what James is doing at 37 years old. I'd say it is a great feat at that age or really any age for that matter.

But what's more impressive to me is that weight room. Where is the guy that said the Steelers were cheap cause they don't spend any money their weight rooms?

    A) You were doing 720. JH is doing 990. Big difference. I agree though that you can do A LOT on leg presses and hacks compared to regular squats and it looks impressive. I honestly cant remember the exact weights from back in the day, but I know I used to be able to hack 5-6 plates a side and I was never a very strong leg guy.

    B) I want to see video not a still pic. I've seen a lot of half reppers in the gym. I've also seen a lot of guys push their legs with their arms.

****Just remembered what drove me nuts about hack squats. I separated my AC joint in a failed ski jumping attempt back in the early 90s and never had it pinned. For those who don't know, the AC joint is where your clavicle connects to your scapula, so my clavicle distally isn't flush with my shoulder. I have a bump and it sticks up. Whenever I'd do HS's that bone would drive into the pad . I used to have to put my left hand on the pad to relieve some of the pressure.

That has to translate to some explosiveness, at the snap, getting after the qb!!!

Just ANOTHER kid from Akron, Ohio!!!!

(Reference to "Just a kid from Akron", LeBron`s tag-line, for his charities, for those who don`t get the "inside joke"...:smiley1::cool::applaud::thumbs_up:)

    GO STEELERS!:yeehaw:

I don't want to be one of those guys, but in all honesty, the amount itself isn't that impressive. Of course it's impressive, and I'm not going to claim I could ever do that much, but there was a time in my life when it wasn't out of reach.

What I'm sure is impressive, however, is the way he does it. That's the kind of weight a lot of guys could struggle to do a couple times, but I bet JH just powers away at it like he was walking. To me it's like that video of him pushing the 1,200 lbs. on that sled. A lot of guys could probably move it, but to march it around like he was doing was really amazing.

Exactly. In a lot of cases, you might say that because you're skeptical that it was a truly impressive feat. In this case, I want to see a video because I think that's what will make it so impressive.

Yeah, I don't want to be one of those guys either... But I also did some serious leg pressing about 15 years ago or so. I don't remember the specific weight that my buddy and I used to do, but we maxed out the room on the machine for 45 lb. Plates and did sets of 8-10 reps. It was at least 16 45 lb plates, maybe 18 or 20. However, like Snack says I'm sure the way he does it is impressive. Also, this may just be his warm up for heavy squats, which I always found more difficult than the more controlled leg press.

I was going off the logic that if a professional sportsman who does a lot of strength training is posting something from a workout that he thinks is impressive, for all of his rivals to see, it is probably impressive.

As long as we are putting things in perspective, I lifted my four year old and two year old and went down 10 steps two weeks ago and being forty I paid for it the rest of the week :lolol: so I'm hella impressed by it.

Technically.... I only see 990 lbs on the press (8+3 plates on each side). Linear leg presses are somewhat cheating and easier to lift vs say a Squat, but it's safer for your back and still impressive. At his age, I could about 900 lbs on a leg press..... but I'm not nearly as athletic as JH. I've since scaled back a bit and generally leg press 500-600 for higher reps.

I've never been a gym guy, at 53 I started because I feel old. On that same machine I put 8 plates (360) and do 10 reps. Impressed?!?

I see Deebo pushing a 800lb sled 15 yds. I see silverback doing dips with 225lbs tied to his waste. I see all of Harrison's vids and I'm impressed because he's a 37 yr old linebacker, not a bodybuilding gymrat.

Moreover Im proud he's a Steeler!!! The example he's setting for off-season workouts, being a true professional on and off the field. I don't care if he's pressing 1000lbs or 800. I do care if these younger LBers are being lead in the right direction and by all indications they are.

Yeah, but those weights aren't going to be waking him up at god knows when and demanding attention for 23 hours of the day... so in comparison JH got off lightly.

Hey guys he is obviously not half repping it. He is at the low end of correct form in the picture.

One thing is for sure he is working out hard which is a good sign for Steelers fan.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to add the weight of the mechanism that the plates go on when calculating the total weight?

Yeah... Even on a machine, the bar doesn't weigh zero. I'm not sure exactly how much it weighs, but it's more than 10 pounds. That was over 1,000 lbs.

You might.... but leg presses don't post the weight of the sled portion....the problem being that at a 45 degree angle it's not 1:1 weight...... where as yes a barbell has a weight easily posted as 45lbs (or more for a specialty bar). My gym buddies would never count the weight of the sled since each one was different and unknown..... but I guess we are conservatives :)
