Mean Joe was a #1 overall, and has been named greatest Steeler ever so................the two are mutually exclusive.

When was the last time we had the very first pick in the draft? Bradshaw, I think. Over 30 years of not being the worst team in the league. That's gotta be some kind of record.

Green was the fourth overall in '69.

You're right that Bradshaw was our last, though the Bears have the record for longest time without a no. 1 pick - they last had one in 1947. Ironic, given that they could have had the Bradshaw pick...

Incidentally, the team with the most number of no. 1 picks? Indianapolis (7). We've had 3 in our history.

Points if anyone can name the other 2 without googling... I certainly couldn't.

Tampa Bay has got to be up there. THey were awful for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if the Saints were near the top of the list as well.

They've had 5, plus the first round of the supplemental draft in 84 when the USFL players were in there... so they're second or third on the list.

But who were our other two no. 1 picks? Where's Jimmy Allen...?

I know I won't guess right, but it sure feels like Browns, Jets, Bengals and Bucs would contend.

MJG and TB are 1 and 1(a). Take your pick as to who is which.

EDIT: Just realized MJG was number 4 overall. He was Noll's first first rounder so easy to make the mistake that he was a number one overall pick. A couple of guys named George Kunz and Leroy Keyes were picked just prior to Green, lol. A guy by the name of Orenthal James Simpson was number one overall that year.

I would guess the Lions would be one of the teams without googling.

Looking at the hardware collected by all of the other overall number ones it is hard to argue. Bradshaw tops them all..

Don't want to hijack the thread but it would be interesting to find out who everyone thinks is the beat overall Mr. Irrelevent (last draft pick) is.

Like at first when I read it I thought he meant that he was talking league wide and then when he asked for Jimmy Allen I knew that he was talking about us. It was really his British accent that threw me. LOL.
